o gara is no good in my opinion few lucky breaks is all hes getting

Actually I said O'Gara out of malice, deliberately getting his name wrong.

But I was mighty impressed with him as he seems to be a thinking footballer as well as strong and skillful.

Player of the year is Winker Watson, playing for minnows against Cork and scoring 6 points, sublime points, from play.

James Kavanagh certainly putting himself in the frame if Kildare can win.

So far it would be Bernard Brogan for me. He has been outstanding and absolutely carried Dublin through a couple of those qualifier games, and also hit some crucial scores in the second half of the Tyrone game. They wouldn't be still in the championship without him.

And I'm surprised it took so long for James Kavanagh to get a mention. He's been superb. John Doyle seems to be getting all the credit but even though he has kicked some good scores he has kicked an awful lot of wides aswell.

I think player of the season will be decided over the next 2 games but I suppose the nominations are Bernard Brogan, James Kavanagh, John Doyle & Martin Clarke. Its difficult to think of 1 or 2 outstanding players for Cork in the Championship so far with them not really setting the world on fire but I suppose P.O'Neill really turned the screw on the Rossies at a vital time on Sunday.

brogan seems to have it in the bag unless there's something very special next week from either martin clarke, james kavanagh or ambrose rogers(if he plays)

the player of the year shouldnt kick a point just for his own tally when his team need a goal. or shoot from the corner with his left foot in the dying minutes. he's good, but he's far from the finished article

I think that is harsh RhodeJim. He was brilliant yesterday and has been so in any game I watched on the telly. For me Brogan is the stand out player of the year.

Bernard Brogan by a mile....Rhodejim you know very little about Gaelic football, obviously suffer from the typical anti-Dublin bias too....Youre makn a bit of a laughn stock of yourself passin such remarks bout Bernard on this forum.....The commentators on the Sunday Game yesterday described him as one of the best Gaelic players (from any county) ever ........He is a spectacular player , in a class of his own.....

Bernard brogan fell away in the second half yestarday and for training twice a day you should not do that so not for me player of the year.

Slightly sensational that, great player but imo not in the category of, Gooch, Joyce, Maurice, O Sullivan, Ciaran Mac, Stevie Mcdonnel, Peter Cannavan, Sean Cavanagh but give it another year or two and of course he might be regarded in that league. only my opinion.
