Trouble at the All-Ireland club JFC semi

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I can only speak of my own experiences. Cookstown of Tyrone won an All-Ireland fair and square in Feb 2010 against a Kerry club. Cookstown the team and their supporters were a credit to their club and county on the day.

yeah a fines a bit silly, especially for the small rural clubs like both involved, both wouldnt have more than 2oo odd members at most id say. Where does the money go to?

mmcartan in response to your comments. I apologise for saying it was Weeshie - I stand corrected (it was Gary 'the wig' that was on commentary). The point I was making was I felt the arrogance of the comments made on the radio was probably indicative of the attitude the Dromid management had approached the game (my opinion - not saying its the gospel truth) ie just turn up on the day and we'll win as they have no big name players! Dont get me wrong I'm not condoning the overly physical approach I just made the point that they had their homework done whereas Dromid hadnt.
As for the comments made by TheRoad; yes Meath won the Leinster final because they scored more (not exactly rocket science there). Likewise France. Whoever said that sport was fair??? You trying to say that Galway wouldnt take an All Ireland by any means necessary??? Come off the cross will ya

Doireck, youre confused.I never said meath didnt score more,I said that they didnt deserve to win (Its not rocket science). And for the record,i assure you i would be embarrassed if galway won an all ireland by deliberately taking the oppositions three best players out of the game.If you think its alright to win by cheating, instead of telling me to come down from my cross, you should instead climb out of your pit.

After the brawl near the end of the first half in the Armagh v Cork game it will be interesting to see what action will be taken against them. I presume since they are not junior minnows the incident will be ignored. Come on the GAA and be consistant.

Does anyone have any idea how banning a spectator from going to watch GAA matches will work in practice? Are we all going to get identity cards?

Brings a whole new perspective to the phrase "It was only handbags"....

I can see yer woman turning up at the next club game with the false beard and deep voice in a Monty Pyton 'Life of Brian' fashion. Ref turns round, "Who swung that Handbag", crowd - "She did, She did.... I mean He did, He did". Ref - "Are there any women here...."

That was a bit of wrestling. Nothing to see here.
Even the sending off was fierce harsh. Great second half by Armagh. Several turnovers thanks to some excellent tackling

Correct my friend, but as we in Louth know too well the GAA select their investagations and indeed Garda/psni investagation on a very select basis. It helps if your county has a GAA columnist on a nation paper.

How is two players rolling on the ground and the rest trying to seperate it with not one punch thrown, sub getting involved or supporter getting involved in any way similar to derrytresk v dromid?

I was at the McKenna Cup Final in Armagh and was speaking to a person from Derrytresk. He explained the reason why the woman allegedly hit Declan O'Sullivan with her handbag. He told me the Derrytresk player went to shake hands with declan O'Sullivan at the end of the game. His words: - Declan 'busted him' and the lady took exception to this. THIS PHOTOGRAPH CLEARLY VINDICATES THAT ACCOUNT>

It is not surprising that DeclanO' Sullivan did not want to press charges. He was the aggressor.

I believe the ladywho was banned for 48 weeks, if she was the one in the photograph, needs to appeal as she was clearly provoked and only acting to protect a player.

Unbelieveable... any wonder declan o'sullivan didnt want to speak to the guards about the 'hand bag' incident when you see that photo.

To be honest - in my opinion that Dromid club are an absolute embarrassment to the GAA, how they have conducted themselves in this match & more so in the press and the media afterwards. Absolute embarrassment! Liveline, Joe Duffy, Spillane & Co.

Anyone who wants to express an opinion on this game should watch the entire match on dvd. I did last night with an open mind and boy does it tell a different story to what the media have been saying. There is no doubt who were the more aggressive team and it wasn't derrytresk. Dromid players and management were constantly being aggressive to both opposition players and the referee. In my opinion Declan O'Sullivan should have recieved yellow cards on at least 4 occasions and red at least twice for striking with a closed fist. He also decked a derrytresk player who offered him a handshake at the end of the game, leading to the handbag incident, which was also blown out of all proportion as he hardly even noticed it as he just walked on towards the changing rooms.
The brawl was bad looking because of the subs coming on but there was hardly a punch actually thrown and most that were were in response to Dromid players throwing punches. The GAA have lost much respect in Tyrone for their trial by media. If you want to really know what happened watch the whole match and then comment. Today's publicised photo of D.'O.S tells it's own story...
