He is actually a Donegal man and played with Donegal until his late twenties, before switching to Mayo, whom he played with into his late 30's.

I've seen teams rattle through games from week to week and turn up very flat after a few weeks of a break. The body gets used to hard weekends followed by recovery sessions and the longer break seems to be a disadvantage. Now I know the S&C and fitness coaches will have all this covered but don't be surprised to see some players perform without the usual zip.

In football terms I like to "hate " Mayo more than anyone else due to multiple beatings since 2001. But I cant help but admire their player's incredible resolve and fight and I know plenty of good genuine mayo men (gave a ticket to one very deserving man)that would be in dreamland if they won and I hope they do.

Would love to have a craic at the all Ireland champions in castlebar next year. Massive task but I think they will sneak it once and for all. Better they win the bloody thing otherwise they will keep coming back.

Just back at the desk from walking down the street for a coffee and everyone is talking about the game. Every business and car has the green and red decked out. We have been here so many times before and the hope is that this time will be different. I think everyone is aware of the massive challenge ahead in facing a great Dublin team but also a quiet confidence in our lads.

I spent some time yesterday watching some youtube clips....Galway 1998, Armagh 2002, Tyrone 2003, Wexford 1996 etc.....all days when teams won their first or first in a long time All Ireland's. The outpouring of emotion would put the hairs on your neck standing........hoping we can experience that on Sunday..."
Wouldn't begrudge you yew , hopefully its a great game and may the best team win. roll on Sunday cant wait.

So according to most there's no way Mayo can win tomorrow If Dublin don't win it means they didn't play well For me I couldn't care less A Mayo win is all that counts

For anyone having a bet....

6/4 for under 35 pts looks tempting considering how tight things may be tomorrow.

Am going on the 33/1 for young Fenton to get the first goal. The lad has come close on doing that in the last 2 finals..

Dublin are favs so yes the majority think they'll win. Actually what will happen if Mayo win is folk will say Dublin were not as good as made out. If Dublin win, expect a repeat of the "Dublin advantages" threads.

It was in response to RealDub who said most pundits on the radio going for Mayo.

Logic dictates a Dublin win by 3/4 points but you just never know as it's the All-Ireland final. Both teams are playing much better this year than last so it could be a really good game. I just can't see Dublin beating Mayo well, they have never been able to beat Mayo by much in the past. If Mayo are to win they just have to disrupt Dublin and not let them waltz up to their 45 unchallenged like Tyrone did. Mayo will also need their big guns firing - AOS, Andy Moran, Colm Boyle, Lee Keegan & Cillain O'Connor. Lee Keegan is due a big game. If the Mayo half back line can get forward and put Con O'Callaghan and Paul Mannion on the back foot then they have a chance. Dublin are a fantastic team but maybe, just maybe they are due a bad game. It can sometimes be difficult to put another great performance in like the one against Tyrone. I'll stick my neck on the block and go for a Mayo win by 2 points.

Finally best of luck to both sides and all the supporters travelling to the game.

There appears to be some doubt about Keegan's fitness. Would not be surprised if Durcan is brought in. He is a good footballer but not even close to Keegan in strength and leadership.

neveright is an apt name.

Durcan was Mayos best player across the 2 final matches last year.

Durcan has more pace than Keegan and is as physically strong and is taller.

Keegan only marginally better than Durcan based on being a better marker and finisher
