In 2004 they were rocked by Cormac McAnalan's death, there is no doubt that they would have been there or thereabouts that year had they gotten through. But whether they would have won that year is an impossible question. How many back to backs would they have won if he were alive? Would they possibly have gotten 3 in a row? Would they have avoided the back door in 2005-2008? All impossible questions really. 3 All irlelands was a very good return considering they had no tradition of winning before 03.

All important factors for sure, mcanallan's untimely passing in particular must have hit the team hard. I also suspect that the effort required to win an All Ireland with the intensity with which they played must have been very hard to maintain in consecutive years. For whatever reason they never looked the same in the years after they won Sam. Kerry never met them in any of those years and I wonder what the outcome would have been. Who knows as you rightly say. Hate is and will always be reserved for Cork, Dublin just happens to be the team knocking us off first place at the minute, hence why I have no time for them, if it was Limerick Id be saying the same. Now leave me alone I'm drinking TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 25/03/2017 19:37:59 1970991 Link 1 |

Ha, don't believe for a minute you would feel the same loathing for the likes of Limerick or whatever, it's Dublin and Cork, Tyrone and Mayo that you Kerry lads don't like to see winning, and all of us don't like to see ye winning, and that's a big compliment, we have a few haters ourselves :D

Hi ye would want to be winning all the time with all the money the GAA have pumped into ye. The GAA will expect a big return for their money. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 26/03/2017 11:39:53 1971106 Link 1 |
I wouldnt .....it would be embarrassing for them. You can only judge a team in the era they play in. Things have moved on. The top teams today are better than the top teams of the era. The game is faster and more physical. JayP (Dublin) - Posts: 1772 - 26/03/2017 11:56:55 1971112 Link 0 |

Dunno about this. Fitness and conditioning levels would be a bit better without a doubt but that's about it. Are you honestly saying a Tyrone team with the likes of Jordan Cavanagh mcguigan Dooher O'Neill and Canavan would be embarrassed by Dublin? Ye are good but not that good. All else being equal there would be nothing in it IMO GeniusGerry (Kerry) - Posts: 2105 - 26/03/2017 14:32:23 1971148 Link 0 |
