The standard of Football may be crap, but they get plenty of games and they are happy with that.

And at the end of the day isn't that what it's supposed to be all about."

I do not see Kilkenny Folks on this lamenting their standard of Football

you can count the amount of posters from Kilkenny on this forum on one hand and that's discussing hurling , they don't associate with the rest of us

When your county has more adult hurling teams than Kk have adult football teams then you can come on here giving off about KKs poor record in football. Don't believe the instigator of this thread can talk bet Kk have more football teams than Carlow have hurling teams. As for Poor f'n Cavan, didn't know it was a county, dont see their name listed anywhere in the national hurling leagues. Do they play in the British league?

Clubs nowadays tend to have lots more youth teams etc. No reason why football counties couldn't do more to promote hurling, and conversely. 2 great games.

calm down brian_coyote. We are well aware in cavan that nearly nobody plays hurling. You cannot compare it to Kilkenny where Football is widely played. There is no need to get vulgar and insulting. At least in Cavan everyone wants to play for the county , there is no constant in-fighting like you have in your own county. So don't go lecturing us on GAA, thank you.

What I find most surprising is all these posters here claiming to want smaller counties to do something about the plight of hurling don't even know the huge steps the Cavan county board made in order to rejuvenate hurling in the county. I think until a bit of self-educating is done, such posters are best ignored.

There is truth in what you say. However, many of those steps taken have since been undermined & undone. That's why the likes of Ballymachugh hurling has disbanded.

Maybe look up the term 'self-educating'

Is this a positive or negative? It did give €70k extra a year to the football U21s though. Does anyone really care? That's the bigger issue.

The only two Cavan hurling I can think of in recent memory were:

1. Doing away with their senior hurling team

2. Seanie Johnston coming on as an injury time sub in a local Kildare club league came so he could be eligible to play for the Kildare senior football team.

Cavan, those in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones.

Until next year and our renewal of the Kilkenny football argument xxx

Have you ever wondered if the element of hurling snobbery which doesn't exist to the same level in Gaelic Football might contribute to the level of interest generated within those counties?

One certainly gets the impression, from the outside looking in, that Kilkenny consider football to be a sport only fit for poor hurlers."
cavanman Lets be honest cavan are nether good at football are hurling. When did ye last win any silverware

Hogan 35.
That was a stupid arrogant comment about Cavan GAA. They are as loyal to their county, and it's tradition as any county.
