Should strongrr counties be allowed to enter their B/C teams in the NHL - Kilk B, Kilk C, Tipp B etc - it would allow more players to be tried out in what is 'only the league' ?

They do in Camogie and it works really well you have Junior, Inter and Senior all ireland league/championships, and most large counties compete in two grades its a great way to transition young players.

That was not always the case. Hurling was strong in places like Rush, Portrane and Lusk etc back in the day

Last time I checked St Brigids & St Vincent's where in Fingal ,2 of Dublins top Hurling teams & both senior, furthermore St Vincent's are the most successful minor Hurling club in Dublin with more titles than anyone else & only 2nd to the Faughs in senior Hurling in Dublin ,

Well Fingal is a stand alone county council which in theory makes it a county in its own right. But counties are only considered legitimate if they have been founded by the British

The counties were not founded by the British. The boundaries were defined by French-speaking Normans.

King John of England created the county structures in the 13th century. It was after the Norman invasion, nothing to do with the Normans other than that.

You're right, they could start by amalgamating Cork and Kerry. Be careful what you wish for.
