Lads, this isn't hard to understand.

They didn't pick to be in the Junior Championship! Where are ye getting this idea.

The League in Kerry is a separate competition. Dr Crokes could play in Division 5 in Kerry if it came to it, they would still be a senior team is they avoided relegation from the senior championship

G/G are there because they have not been able to win the Kerry Junior Championship. now that they have they won it they will go up to Intermediate next season and a team that finished lowest in the intermediate championship will go down to Junior to replace them.

If they win the Intermediate Championship they will go into the senior championship and break away from their divisional side, Mid-Kerry.

Ardfert did this a number of years ago. They went from Junior all the way to being a Senior club in Kerry, winning the Junior and Intermediate Kerry and All-Ireland championships along the way.

Lad you seem to have a few issues that should be left to some political discussion forum.
Hogan Stand is for Gaelic Games.

I think that post was one of the most childish I've ever seen on hereand that's saying something.

I didn't realise the 9 after your username name indicated your age.

In most counties league and championship are separate. if this was the case in Tyrone the Rock would have been nowhere near the junior championship based on their recent intermediate championship record. they only played junior championship in both 2014 and 2016 because they were relegated in division 2 of the league the previous season. In 2012 they beat the Moy with their 4 All-Ireland senior winners in the IFC 1/4 finals and were beaten by eventual All-Ireland winners Cookstown in the semis. In 2013 they again reached the Tyrone IFC semis and in 2015 won their IFC first round game against Gortin before going out to Cookstown again. The Rock have proven to be a very strong intermediate championship side in Tyrone so it's a bit rich if they are complaining about the quality of an opposing team in the junior championship especially as 7/8 of the Rock team have also played for Tyrone at some level.
glenbeigh might be playing in division 1 of the league but they drew with a divison 4 team in the kerry final first day out. championship and league are 2 completely different things.

Hermit how do you finish lowest in a championship? In Tyrone (like all-ireland and any other championship i have evercencountered) once you are beat you are out, so all losers in first round are out, how do you decide who is lowest? Do the losers from second round come in to the equation?

Thats the only query i have, the rest is pretty straight forward.

You'd have to wonder how something as simple as having separate leagues and championships has managed to run four pages!

Ok so let's say you are Templenoe (last year's Kerry juniors champions). You now go into the Intermediate Championship.

There's a first round draw for the 16 teams.

The losing 8 go into relegation playoffs and the eventual loser of the final play off game goes down to Junior.

Thanks for that interesting information, puts to bed most of the arguments on the posts about G/G being some super club in disguise!

How did they end up in Junior Gaaland?

They played Brosna only 2 years ago and lost in an extra - time replay, that was a Junior semi final

Re: your last point that Division 4 team - Na Gaeil are very much an upcoming team in Kerry they absolutely dominated Div 4 and likely will gain promotion to Div 2 and possibly Div1 in coming years. They have quite a few lads on last years Kerry minor and again in 2017

The team that is relegated from Intermediate to Premier Junior is the team who finished lowest in the County League

This is for the 8 teams who lost in the 1st round of the 2016 Intermediate Championship - which was Skellig Rangers who I think from memory finished mid table in Division 4

Silly comment. Kerry domestic league and champ effects nobody but Kerry. I would say Tyrone set up is wrong as it appears to not promote county success.

Yes but Rangers had to play a relegation play-off so it is a relegation play off system not based on League positions

If there playing junior teams is that not there standard?"
I find the fact the Ulster teams still have this system when everybody else doesn't worrying. I actually like the Ulster system, however as far as I know every other county separated league and champ about 20 years ago.

The problem is that you should not be able to play championship in two counties in the same year. By playing league in two counties thatvisxexactly what you are doing.

I know for a fact that a player in London played Champ in London and then transferred back to Cavan at least twice to save his club from relegation. If Ulster played by the same rules, that would not happen.

Replying To keepherlow:  "i spoke to kerry men and tried to get them to explain the whole set up of their laegue and championship. took a number of explanations to get it right, the kerry gaa men were not fully agreed when explaining to the structure. seemed a bit over complicated. could never understand why they just didnt have three divisions

division 1--- seniors (you play senior championship & senior league)
division 2---intermediate (you play intermediate championship and league)
division 3---junior (you play junior champ and league)

if you won the junior league you are promoted to division above you
if you won the junior championship you are promoted to division above you

if you won the intermediate league you are promoted to division above you
if you won the intermediate championship you are promoted to the division above you

so league & championship both are very competitive as there was the reward of playing in a higher division."
Too many teams. Otherwise it is exactly how you describe only with one extra division. ?

Replying To Farney:  "if you get promoted\relegated in the league then that is reflected in the championship.. likewise if you win a championship then you can get promoted up a league.. it means that a team is playing against the same opposition in the league and championship... it sounds in some other counties that the league is ignored and teams can pick and choose what league they are in. No wonder that the GAA has trouble with organising fixtures and avoiding player burn out. The Kerry system of having 34 Junior teams between Junior and Junior Premier is a bit hard to fathom. That's more teams than are in all of Monaghan!"
Exactly. You answered your own point.
