Replying To Greengrass:  "Dublin have won 4 All Irelands in the last 6 seasons . They have won the last 4 National Leagues. Tyrone have won 1 Ulster title since 2010. That was last year and they weren't exactly Invincible looking when they won It . Tyrone are still lagging behind the top three . They have played both Mayo and Kerry in championship football recently and have lost both . They have only averaged a score of 13 points in those two games and will be without Connor McAliskey for this season . They are a fine team but people are right to question their All Ireland credentials ."
great post, totally agree.

Replying To jimbodub:  "Ultimate respect for Tyrone. A great Footballing county. Football mad, great setup.

They'll come with their A game and play to their strengths and will cause Dublin plenty of trouble

A very difficult game ahead and Dublin will have to be far more clinical compared to last weeks game

There will be plenty of defensive football from both teams

Lets hope Dublin's superior offensive options wins out after the grind."
Of course they'll come up with a plan and why wouldn't they

Even if they win tonight, For me they wouldn't get near Dublin or Kerry, or even Mayo in a championship knock out game.

Just my opinion. They are good, no doubt, but they aren't all Ireland winning material in my view.

Replying To Tir Conaill Abu:  "I'd put Tyrone at No.3 behind Dublin and Kerry. That's not a bad position to be in and come championship they won't be far away. I know people will say it's only early days in the year but I seen something very different from Kerry last week. There was something about their play and attitude last week that tells me Dublin could have serious opposition this year for Sam. I remember getting that feeling when I watched our own county demolish Derry in Ballybofey in 2012 and look what happened that year.

We could be taking a trip back to the 70's for the next few years and unfortunately for Tyrone although they won't be far away I don't see them having the forward power to land the big prize."
Are you serious ?

Tyrone better than Mayo ?

Basing that on what exactly ?

The last time they met in the championship which was only last august, Mayo where crap and still won.

Now you place them above Mayo, don't get the logic behind that I really don't.

Replying To seanie_boy:  "I'm going to say that I think we can get a win here. We've no reason to think otherwise. The Dubs are great but winning streaks have to end at some point. Why not today. Tyrone to nick it by 1/2 points."
Of course you can win.

We are back training 3 weeks, If you win my own personal opinion wont change, Unless, like Mayo, you get a few scoring forwards and a more consistent free taker for starters, you will not be winning an all Ireland.

Don't see what people are taking unbrage with what I'm saying.

Last year I predicted Tyrone to win the A I in 2017. As it turned out they should have won it in 2016. If they had not been so unlucky against Mayo (especially missing Sean C at the end) they would have beaten Dublin in that first drawn game against Mayo. The team that can take on that Dublin defence will win and Tyrone look the most prepared for that - to confirm my original prediction for 2017......

Except they did get close to Kerry and Mayo. We'd probably have beaten Kerry in the 2015 AI semi had we converted any of the 5-6 goal chances that came our way, and we kicked ourselves out of the game last year after dominating Mayo. Not quite at Dublin's level just yet, but we've bags of pace and good footballers, and are capable of troubling anyone on hard ground.

Replying To cacsmckilly:  "Tyrone are always hyped up, for sure. Since winning the three their teams have always been given the nod for All Ireland Contenders and have fell well short of the mark. This year I see a change in the tide.

I quoted 2010 as being the year Dublin found their feet, since then and 7 years on they have just been immense. Tyrone on other hand, 7 years ago the wheels came off and have been playing catch up since. But is 2017 Tyrone's' year to get the monkey of the back? Tyrone just need that one win over the big three as you call them and they'll be serious opposition as a result.

They may not win the All Ireland but I can see them maybe becoming one of the big 3, with either Kerry or Mayo stepping outside the circle.

There are issues for sure - full forward line for sure but the way they play the full forward line is needed more for creating space rather than as talisman, the scores come from runners further back.

I seen the weakness last year more in the physicality of the younger players who are maturing nicely.

Your brave to write anyone off at this point? You had your Weetabix this morning."
Agree with most of that. Although I don't see Mayo stepping aside even if they have a crap league. It will be Kerry amaking way for us I think until their minors progress a few years. I do have huge hopes for this summer. Can we beat Dublin, no idea time till tell. Kick off shortly with the Dubs. Be nice to set a mark early

Tyrone obviously spend 100% of their training sessions on defence, and zero on shooting/kicking.

Awesome defence, tragic forward play

Only saw the last 20 mins here. Colm cavanagh should have got black. Sludden should have got a free and Dublin player black carded for the foul. Free out on the wing should surely have been on the 22 because it last where the ball landed. Should have been a free out for point 9 for Dublin

What I'm hearing Dubs lucky to have McQuillan ref the match - some crazy decisions from what I'm hearing from some of my red hand friends who were there - but i suppose it's difficult to judge when you're actually there. McQuillan doesn't seem to like Tyrone?

a draw a fair result. But bad conditions, wind and rain does'nt help. Ref was ok not great.

Some of you so called Tyrone supporters are never happy. That was a a great team performance under terrible conditions with a key man missing in Mattie D and with losing Mc Cann early and having to play with a man less for a period of time I am disappointed that we didn't get the win but delighted with the effort shown and Sludden scored 3 from play and got MOM incase you might want to say something positive about our attacking. Well done the lads. To hold the champions to a draw in croke park in early February is a great days work.

Leaving Dublin out of it... Tyrone showing no sign of addressing their weaknesses
1 Obviously shooting practice not high on the list of priorities
2 No sign of a reliable freetaker
3 The continued selection of those found wanting when pressure is on.

Tyrone left it behind tthem tonight. They have the measure of the Dubs but they'd need to start practicing their shooting. Rubbish at shooting. Can't understand how Mark Bradley got sent off or how Tiernan mc cann got a black card. There were others who deserved but I question these particular ones well the colour of them. It should be a great summer after that tonight as Tyrone know now that it's doable.

As I have said before Tyrone are a formidable team and a great challenge to overcome.
Good battle in Croker tonight lads

Until we meet again in the Summer. Looking forward to it. Our lads will relish the rematch and will be much better prepared match fitness wise. Next team we meet will be one we look forward to.

Dublin well off the pace tonight..tyrone will be dissapointed they didnt end our unbeaten run..tyrone a tough team to break down but their shooting in front of goals was shocking and it cost them the game.

I am only stating the obvious, the defensive system has been worked on and in place for the past 3 years, like i said it is awesome.

Where Tyrone have failed over the past 2 years and again last night was their general forward play, shooting, free kicking.

They were beat by Kerry in 2015 because of simple missed chances, were beaten by Mayo last because of simple missed chances and ditto last night.

And I don't know you but I would guess you were as angry/frustrated as most Tyrone supporters against Mayo last year when they left it behind them again, all because focus is purely on defence.
