Replying To essmac:  "Indeed. I read somewhere that last year over 96% of all new jobs were in Dublin. There is no vision for a national economy, no vision for a national infrastructure, no vision for a thriving society outside Dublin. The GAA does a power of work to retain a sense of community in rural areas; something that metropolitan pundits (whose 'knowledge' of the GAA is confined to inter-county games in Croke Park) know nothing about. Only saw Clifford briefly, and yes he could be one of those to make it at senior level - not just a talented player, but plays with great confidence; you need that self-belief to make the step-up."
Excellent post esmac and I agree with you 100%.

A joy to watch David Clifford.

Crying shame if he ends up in Australia.

His 45 at the end of the first half especially with the conditions was like something only Dan Carter could manage. Super player

Looks a very talented lad, he looks physically superior at minor level be intersting to look at his trajectory when he begins to play against players evenly matched physically.

Looks like he has tremendous skill and atlethism.

Wow what a talent, you put him on Cavan's team and Cavan win imo.

for whom? it would certainly be a huge loss to the GAA but no to him personally if his ambition is to be a professional sportsperson. People dont talk about the huge disappointment of a Shane Long going across the pond as they do AFL for some reason

I understand he is already on the Aussie radar. TK is on the job as we speak.

Unfortunately with the Aussie rules that's they way things are going to pan out. GAA is now as professional as it can be so easy transition to a professional sport - saw the video on HS of Tyrones Conor Mc'kenna playing Aussie rules what a miss he is for them and Kerry will lose Clifford no doubt but that's just the way it is!!!

Spillane is right. Even as a Cavan fan in croker today I just had to look on and admire. The kid has the talent to be a star for Kerry for years. I'm not sure I've ever seen a footballer so natural off both feet (Maurice, gooch, Mattie forde all included!). He's unselfish too which is unusual for someone who stands out so much at minor level. The most promising talent in the country - by an absolute county mile!

Is there any chance Clifford will be thrown in to the senior replay for Kerry.

Honestly not the worst idea I ever heard, why not? Yes he's no experience at that level but this a special talent that comes along ever so often. For me he'd do damage no matter what level he's playing, today he's running amok and then to cap it off Kerry get a 45 I said "no way he has to have a weakness in this weather at 45's" ha no way he kicks a curler right over the black spot , have we ever seen a better minor?

Best I've seen at that age since the Laois star Brian Beano McDonald probably has more in his locker as well.

He really does look like he is going to be a superstar, hopefully he stays in Ireland. I can't believe that Kerry would be considering picking him next weekend though. They already have the likes of Barry John Keane on the bench, who would make most teams.

I'm fairly sure the Kerry management team aren't, not only because they can't within the rules, but because it would be a bit desperate and in many ways undermining the importance of the minors, especially with them being on the cusp of breaking records and making further history.
