Well theres a couple of quality players returning to the panel - ciaran russell, joe hayes and shane brennan.
Podge collins is obviously focusing on hurling while enda coughlan has retired. Neither were starters though so shouldnt have that bad an effect on the team. Russsell will be close to starting anyway this year and brennan wont be far off either. So overall i think we may be stronger, particularly because we have a lot of very very good young players who will be a year older this year. Players like cian o'dea, keelan sexton, jamie malone, pierce lillis, eoin cleary and darren nagle. In saying that though this year will be much tougher than last year because there is going to be no easy games in division 2 this year and for championship teams will be more wary of us. For this year i think progress will be lesser so than last year, but id be happy with maintaining division 2 status, then we need to beat limerick in the championship to continue moving forward. Munster semi final may be a step too far so hopefully get a favourable draw in the qualifiers - all going well.

maintaining div 2 would be huge achievment but hard to see us get the 6 points or more needed to ensure safety.

limerick then in munster at home, winners play kerry so hopefull y another decent run in qualifiers.

Collins doing a great job with limited resources. We have some very good young players coming through but swuad is still small.

Best of luck to them

Ya look i suppose when looking at the fixtures thats probably our most winable game of the lot, so should be a good battle.

I THINK WE CAN SAY WITH CONFIDENCE,WE WILL ''DOWN'' THEM IN CUSACK PARK. These are points we need to stay in second division.

Expecting a Clare win as long as Down are competitive and give a fight

good win for Clare today - Clare 2-11 Down 0-11
the match today showed the two sides of Clare
1st half performance - played brilliant football (maybe too much hand passing though) and unlucky not score 2-3 (or even more) goals.... for the two goals sexton and tubs punished good turnovers.
2nd Half - with the match practically won, Clare returned to slow ponderous play, especially when G.Brennan went off.
lost the 2nd half 4pts - 8pts - some how???? got a few young lads on Nagle, Egan, O'Dea and O'Brien....
For Down, who played way too open especially in 1st half, are now certain to go down in my opinion there subs made an impact though...
Impressed by Russell,John Hayes and of course the small yet mighty Martin McMahon...
but we have to punish teams more and get the ball in faster to Cleary/Sexton who would burn any full-backline.
Division 1 Here we come...(dreaming hopefully )

Is there a better goalie in Ireland than our Hayes.Congratulations to him on another magnificent display.Icannot understand wh y he was not given '' GOALIE OF THE WEEK '' award. Instead it was given to the Mayo keeper.A joke!!!!!!!!!

Jesus Waterford football is at a very low ebb for us to hammer them 5-11 to 0-6 in the minor match. Great result for our lads but not good for the future of Waterford football.
