Was anyone at the game last night? Anyone make an impression against what seems to have been an experimental enough Dublin side ?

I was at the game on Wednesday. Dublin had a very experimental side out with few "big names" involved but our lads put in what I thought was a solid performance for January hurling, it was clear that we have a lot of hurling to do as our striking, touch and overall use of the ball was poor at times, but as I said it was only the 4th of January.
our full back line took a while to get up to the pace of the Dublin forwards, full back Richie Kelly found it hard to tame a lively Dublin full forward esp. Full back is not a position for him, he was probably the best wing back in the county last year and a very good number 8/9 either. dion wall and paul doyle both corner backs settled well as did our half back line, who got on a lot of ball.
jack kav and craig wall midfield got on a mountain of ball, few silly mistakes with poor shot selections dropping ball short ect, but were overall solid.
our forwards came up against a solid Dublin defence, only scoring 1.4 from play, 3 points of that from substitute paul coady who looked very sharp when introduced. some very good moves created from our forwards but just our lack of hurling to date letting down the final product, and very unlucky not to snatch another goal or possibly even 2!!
A good few big names on our bench and 2 players tied up with Carlow I.T aswell, david English, shane kav, seamus murphy, sean murphy, mouse, james doyle, gary Bennett, ger coady.
A panel of 32/33 I believe is in and training hard, hopefully an exciting year ahead with what has the makings of a very very good team!!

on the red cards, I only caught the end of the incident happening, what I believe happened from what I heard was jack kav and liam rush came together over on the far sideline opposite the stand, a hurl and a fist swung which from who I don't know! resulting in 2 straight reds. seemed harsh but a familiar sight for our jack unfortunately, will he ever learn!!!

Thought Wexford were way ahead in fitness terms but it shows the potential
thats there in the panel.

Throw in James Doyle and the 2 Kavanaghs back in and theres a strong team on the way.

Hurlers had a good 10 point win over Meath today, minus the St Mullins contingent. Chris Nolan on fire. Look fit and good numbers.

Congrats to Marty Kavanagh and James Doyle who are part of the IT Carlow
team who qualified for the Fitzgibbon cup QF next tuesday.

They drew with Mary I (last years winners) in the group stage so they wont
fear anyone.

They will be some addition to the Carlow team when they come back in.

Both Marty & James will start for Carlow on Sunday. Vital part of IT Carlows run, but also huge players for Carlow.

Certainly DJ doing himself no harm for when the top job becomes available in Kilkenny - often wondered he if he was ever offered the Carlow one ?

Ya huge boost for Carlow IT and backboned lads largely from the 'non-glamour' counties such as Laois, ourselves ...

Marty will play but James Doyle will be out for a week with a badly broken nose. Just about everyone seems to be fit and training and serious competition for 26 man panel. Good luck to hurlers AND footballers, there seems to be a different buzz around both panels this year.

It is certainly a crunch match this early in the league - generally nothing between what are two evenly matched sides. Lets hope the hurlers can take away what the footballers left behind them last week (: !!

What a great result. It was looking bad when they were 1-2 to 0-0 up after a few minutes.

Sounds like a gritty display.

Love to hear from someone who attended.

We needed that win badly. Well done.
Q. - Was James Doyle togged out today.?

Good performance today, definitely should have won easier. James Doyle was togged out but only on standby. He has a badly broken nose from Carlow IT game. Seriously strong subs came on today. Physically strong. Let's drive on from here.

For me that was the most gratifying result from our hurlers that I've seen in a long time.

Great win for the hurlers.

Hard work paying off and the importance of the squad shown.

Being able to bring on Seamus Murphy, Diarmuid Byrne and Denis Murphy
in the second half shows the strength of the squad.

Antrim will be a tough challenge as they seem to be better prepared
than last year but we should be ready for them.
