Replying To hurlingexpert:  "Doyler - in response to your question about jack browne, he definitley wouldnt be suited to fullback at this level. Hes a good hurler, but he is too small for full back and tends to foul too much.

Clooney - aaron cunningham has never been a consistent performer when he starts, only good display i can rember is in the league last year against kilkenny. But other than that aaron has always been much more effective when introduced as a sub!

Touchofclass - that team wouldnt be far off what i would like to see, although it would work far better is fizgerald was swapped with mccarthy. Maybe a little harsh on podge as well. Id possibly bring him in for cleary, putting mccarthy back to wing back, kelly to midfield and podge center forward.

I think we have the 4th best full forward line in the country.
1. Bubbles, Callanan, McGrath
2. Whelan, Cooney, Mannion (probably how they'll line up when mannion is back)
3. Harnedy, Horgan, Cadogan (Meade doesnt play in the corner)"
My point was Aaron Cunningham plays well in Thurles he enjoys space if you were over a team id say you would pich 15 at the start of the year any play them in every match after that {as i recall he was the U21 Player of his year }

Just because players had a bad 1/2 hour last year should hardly stop them getting on if they are going well in training & club you are as good as your last match.

Some players are favoured by management and get fulll league compliment of matches a player needs a run of matches giving a fellow a few minutes is hardly going to work.

Cody was the master brought in average players they became good hurlers part of a team some of our players should get a sliother of their own
as some body wrote everyone in the country thinks we had a good full forward line bar our management and outfield players.

I agree with the general point that you are making but its just specifically in aarons case i think he has proven at this level that he is best used as a sub.

Cathal mcinerney is similar.

Bobby duggan is an example of a lad that is best used from the start. Different players suit different situations.

Replying To Clareman:  "Luke Meade? Get real. The other lads fair enough all top class but Meade is way off top notch yet, calm your self doyler with your fawning."
isnt luke meade as good as aaron shanagher....he is actually named at corner but plays out the field with harnedy drifting in and out of the fullforward line.

Good to know that about brown. I've limited knowledge of him.

Over the last few years, Davy had to go. Now the boys.

One constant - the players

Big fan of the Banner but this bunch prove time and time again that they dont have it when it comes to a big Championship game.

Chatting to a Cork man yesterday and he was saying that Cork could outnumber Clare for the second match in a row. In the 90's, you'd fill Pairc ui Chaoimh if they were playing Tipp at 9AM on a Monday morning. Now-a-days, all you hear from the Banner are excuses.

Tipp by a nice bit

The interplay and passing into your full forward line is sorely lacking. It's not a new thing. Cork, Kilkenny and Tipp all love giving the defence splitting pass. Remember Callanans pass to John McGrath against Cork. Would a Clare midfielder have done that..maybe Calvin. Not one other Clare player would pass, they'd all have a pop at their own score. Clare have 3 unselfish forwards and midfielders..just 3. John Conlon, Calvin and SOD. The rest wouldn't even dream of a goal pass when a point is on

Concentrate on yer own counties lads, wasting time worrying about Clare...a bit sad.

Anyone who comes on a forum and calls a player a coward seriously doesn't see the irony in that. KEYBOARD WARRIOR.

sorry i read that your post said clare had 3 cowards, not forwards, so if the latter is the case, then my apologies to you bloodyban.

Sorry to hear O'BRIEN AND Collins were still on the doubrful list,That is no different than the last game when they played while injured and had to be taken offMaybe they will be better next time.A fully fit couple back on would make a big difference. The real injury concern has to bee Mc'inerny. He is the star of the defence and his loss would be huge.As I previously said the whole team whoever they are has to rise up and take that game by the scruff of the neck.We should not be in this mess at this time of the year.Let us start right way with a plan to replace the management Iwould love to see ANTHONY Daly in charge.!!!!!

I like John Conlon a lot but he is the most selfish forward we have.

We are not Chelsea oe Real Madrid, the guys have had half a year in charge and you want them turfed out? They got 2 years and they deserve to see those out. The players need to get the finger out big time on Saturday.

The 2 lads will 100% he in charge next year, its a stupid comment to suggest otherwise!!

But they will only stay for 2 years i would think as they have a lot of work / travel commitments outside of hurling.

Provided daly doesnt get a managerial job next year, then be will be manager in 2019!!

Anyway thats a story for another day.

Seems that saturday will be close to a sell out, certainly the stands are sold out anyway! Wouldnt expect a huge clare following though. Probably will be a lot of cork people and other neutrals going along to check out the stadium!!

i,m giving ye a great chance.ye have a full forward line who can score goals which i think ye will need.i think tipp are weak in full back line which ye can expose.i hope mc inerney is fit as i would rate him very highly as a defender.i,d still prefer to see him at centre back but that is my opinion.play galvin and kelly midfield, cut down on hail mary shots and ye have a huge chance.there is surely one almighty effort in this team.

My head says we are in trouble! I just feel Tipp have a serious front 8 and a half back line to give them the ammo to really hurt us. That said, my heart says we will let rip and hurl to our strengths, which sadly we have barely done since 2013. We need to target their full back line like we did Limerick and should have done to Cork. Only a massive improvement from last time will suffice here. Anything less and its curtains for 2017.

I think not having a strong and stable half back line has hindered our full back line and full forward line as without it both are goosed, one for protection and one for supply.

I watched bits of our last clash in 2011 lately. Tipp were all Ireland champs, Clare had a very young team with a few oldies under sparrow, massive underdogs. Yet they went out and let rip. Really stuck into Tipp. Eventually lost but it was the correct approach and they lost with honour.

This team has more going for them so with the same approach we can win it. Im sick of us losing after damp insipid displays! Even playing negative we cough up big scores, why now just accept that fact and see if we can outscore them. At least try it once!!

Come on the Banner, lets rise it!!!!
