Replying To hurlingexpert:  "I think hannon is a very talented hurler but he has never really produced a consistently high level of performance which his talent should deliver. He just seems to be lacking something to make him a really top forward. Obviously limericks management dont have confidence in him ever getting to his potential as a forward so are trying him at 6 instead (where he has played before) But i would be delighted to see him thete against clare as kelly or podge would fancy their chances against a natural forward."
Looks like Hannon could be out of the Clare game

If hannon is out it will be described as a massive blow in the media. In not so sure though!

Boru anyone defending davys actions needs to have a look at themselves! The issue is not with managers arguing decisions. Thats part and parcel of sport. Davy literally crossed the line - by getting confrontational with tipp players. Theres nothing wrong with passion in games, but this was just stupid!!

I wouldnt read much into challenge game results, for me whats more interesting is the selection. Some points to note from the team posted by lohan, o'connor at full back shows that he will probably be in that line for championship. Mcinerney at center back is very promising, wouldnt like to see his talents restricted at corner back. Galvin and mccarthy continuing their midfield partnership - something we will probably see more of.
Great to see deasy starting and getting some scores, duggans both playing as well is interesting - both have a lot of ground to make up. There is definitely a position in the forwards up for grabs so one if the 3 of them needs to really push for that position now. Are you sure o'donnell was full forward? Thought he wasnt back for a few more weeks

limerick are not that physical, so i cant see them bullying Clare. If limerick want to go down that route it shows they dont have confidence in themselves to hurl...sad.

Well I cannot figure it out. There were do many posts in the forum, pointing to Limerick's excellent team and their highly regarded star players, but when it comes to betting odds, bookies like Boyles and Powers have CLARE at 4/6 and LIMERICK at 7/4!!!!!! Iwas hoping CLARE would be at better odds, even though Iknow they are a certainty to win.MY BET ON CLARE will be 300 punts to w in 200.If the odds go out on Clare I will get in on the action again!!!!!!

LRH
A very good question. Let me say, while I always treat league performances with a grain of salt, I thought Cork were very poor in Pairc Ui Rinn V LK a few weeks ago. LK should have won by about 6 points more and Cork seemed to be often unable to handle the physical challenges of several LK players. Ger Hegarty set up a goal, caused his immediate opponent to be yellow carded and scored four points and set up the goal.
In both games against the Tribesmen strength of the Galway men seemed too much for LK however and Hegarty the talisman V Cork made very little impression.. I hope this goes to show how poor, at least in MHO, Cork have gone.

Maybe the bookies are taking instructions from an expert-Hopping Ball

Ignore the bookies, this is a 50.50 game. i was chatting to one of the clare lads and hesaid they expect kinnerk to have limerick flying. This will be a tight game.

Morning all, haven't posted in a while was travelling for a bit with work but settled now again for start of what should be a great championship. Well... Hopefully.

Without dragging up old convos, this comment made me laugh from the limerick fan 'a corner back who is at best second choice and who failed to make the team in the last 3 years,' about Morey. Jaysus, the lad was a monster u:21 and our best player in league winning much praise around the country and made team of the league also.

I think he's clares best corner back as he can hurl and is good on the ball. O brien if back, is a specialist man marker but hasn't the hurling against rotating tactics.

Browne is a fine hurler and very strong but too loose, same with flanagan but he should be given more time i agree.

Morey is better all around and he will learn to be cute off the ball and more physically dominant this champiosnhip and if Clare go on a run, expect him to be up for an all star.

Back to the championship and it will be interesting. I've heard a few rumours of trouble in the tipp camp, KK training like absolute lunatics and more worryingly for Clare, Limerick waiting like a sleeping giant. I also cannot see Limerick beating Clare but as other people have said, clare are small enough and in a year of transition. Kinnerk is shrewd guy and will have a savage gameplan. They will be extremely physical with Kelly, mc grath and Galvin and will give a lot of problems in wing back line.

Clare hammered cork in a challenge but wouldn't read too much into it. Going to be a good summer hopefully. Also, Galway will be very hard to beat this year if they bring their A game.

No it wasnt because it is now illegal for a bookies to offer a bet on any minor or schools games so nice try but you have failed!

Hopping
Well you seem to have done with Galway.
However let me give insight into the fate of favourites in LK/ CL clashes
1955 Clare have beaten Cork, then All Ireland Champs and Tipperary, Limerick are young small and very inexpierienced. Clare are unbackable favourites.
Limerick destroy them by ten points.
1967 Clare are now outsiders. They savage Limerick
1972 In Ennis, Limerick are now red hot favourites, Clare win easily
1981 Clare are favourites and are seven points up when Ger Mc strikes an unstoppable free an inch outside the upright. If it had gone in match over. limerick came back and won.
1993 In Ennis Limerick are roaring favourites Clare beat them easy enough.
The following year Babs Keating, among say LK have no hope against Clare, Limerick run them off the field
1995 Lk, reiging Champs are now favourites and Clare destroy them
1996 Clare are now All Irealnd champs and every sports writer and pundit in the country says Clare will not be beaten-enter Ciarain Carey. I often if that point had not been scored and Ollie Baker had not got injured in the 99 Munster Final that Clare might have won five All Irelands in a row.
2013 Limerick are now Munster Chams but Clare the outsiders beat them pulling.
Be careful out there when you are putting money on any Munster Championship game

Hurling expert , I was very disappointed that you joined the gang including SHEFLIN and TYRRELL, no saints themselves when it came to their hurling exploits,to heap scorn on DAVY FITZ.As a long time Clare supporter you witnessed for years the unfair treatment meted out to him by pundits and correspondents. And all because he had a passion for what he did and came to the defence of those under his charge.Yes he was wrong in the latest Wexford situation, he appologised, but in the circumstances it was out of order for you to join the bunch piling on.

Oh then it must be true. Out of interest what price did you get on the u21 footballers and the minor camogie? Because I know what price the 1st 2 were outright so go on, tell me? And where did you back this? It would be interesting to hear which bookmaker is breaking the law.

While I agree it sounds like he/she is bluffing I do not believe it is against the law to bet on underage. It appears that the top bookies have stopped taking bets on minor since 2016 but it is not against the law.

I meant law as in betting legislation law. But anyway, even if you could bet on minor matches or championship you wouldn't be getting a price on minor Camogie!

His 1st mistake was saying he backed a minor team and second one was saying he was due 800 back for the accum. Because I know what the 2 senior teams were so by his guess of a return the 21s were a smaller price before the championship to win the all Ireland outright than they were just to beat Kerry :) :)
