Ah well, what's another year :D Jack McCaffrey as class tonight, happy days!

Good to see the Dublin 3rd string team beat Wexford away today.

If nothing else, an extra game against an improving Kildare outfit will hopefully bring our young lads on a bit.
And you never know, it might even give Jim Gavin something to think about before he finalises his squad for this season.

Went to the Game between Laois and Meath last saturday night and what a treat I got for my tenner ..

Very good game played in decent underfoot conditions in Jan.

It had everything superb scores by both sides nice hits a couple of goals a very controversial penalty award and a big crowd at a small ground which created a great atmosphere .

Laois were very unlucky not to win and probably out played meath for 50 minutes of the game after Meath got off to a flyer .

A soft late penalty award allowed th royals to sneak a point ahead but there was still time for Colm begley to sing over a wonder score near the end.

Meath had a lot of big guns on show Cillian O'Sullivan Keogan, Menton, Tobin, and Reilly all played well especially in the first half.

Laois had some good showings of their own in Darren Strong Kevin Meaney and their talisman Donie Kingston who gave and Exibition.

Colm Begley was the best player on show on his home patch I suppose he had to rise to the occasion and he certainly did!

Hudson and Connor Mchugh doing themselves no harm at all. Should be a good test for them Vs Kildare.

Good to see our 4th string team draw with laois away and secure our place in the semis. Home fixture against rivals louth. Gives us something exciting even if it's only January.

More importantly its good for some of those lads to be giving Andy a selection headache.

4th string??

We had a mix. Reilly,Keoghan,Menton,O'Sullivan,Lenihan,Burke all played. 6 players likely to start in the league along with probably one or two others..

4th string eh. Crazy statement. If a Meath fan is saying Reilly, Menton, Keoghan, Burke and O'Sullivan are 4th string then he don't know a lot about football.

Ziggy is correct - a mix.

And a new super young goalie as well. ;o)

6 probable starters and 9 newbies , but with Menton it would make it about 66% unknowns not a bad effort, that been said I can see a few of those unknowns becoming known this year.

Two derby games to look forward to today. The Battle of the Boyne with Louth taking on Meath and Kildare taking on the Dubs.

I expect a Meath/Kildare final if I am totally honest. Can't see a reserve Dublin side beating Kildare. If there is any upset it will be in Navan.

Don't think there will be a shock in PT today Ziggy.
Fully expect a Meath victory.

Looking forward to seeing how this new crop of Dubs do against an improving Kildare outfit.
If we get 3 or 4 new players out of this group into the Dublin squad for 2017 then the OB Cup will have been a success whatever the result today.
Young Evan in goals is a great prospect for us also in the years ahead.
Some of these lads are doing themselves no harm at all and performing very well.

Ziggy, I think Menton and COB will be the starting midfield for Meath in the championship by the way. A pretty good pairing for the Summer ahead for ye.
