Nothing wrong with either except posters inventing problems and whataboutery.

Finals only, they are national symbols and should be kept for national events. I again ill say playing a national anthem for a inter county game that is not a national event is not only stupid but disrespectful of both. And those wanting it to continue as if to further some nationalistic ideology are doing more harm to it than anything else, demeaning it to nothing more than a meaningless jingle rather than a national anthem

Keep both and for God's sake have some respect and take off your cap or hats and stand to attention for the National Anthem, face the tri colour and sing, don't be chewing gum or sweets or waving at the TV cameras, have respect for both

Keep both.

Being from a 'weaker county' we'd very rarely get to stand for our national anthem at our national games if its playing was only reserved for finals.

Excellent point the flag and anthem is for all of Ireland not just a few.

Are you suggesting that the anthem should be played before every single game, even at underage level? If it's 'for all, not just a few', then it must be played before every game.

Keep both and it is for all of Ireland.
Some of the slow learners who post to this board obviously do not yet realise that Ireland comprises the 32 counties not 26, or 6 or 9. Indeed a couple of posters like to forget history because history tells us that Ireland is 32 counties -all of whom compete for the All-Ireland.
I do not think anyone is suggesting that it be played before juvenile matches

I'd like to keep both but it's not a deal breaker for me. When the GAA was founded in 1884 and for the forty odd years of its existence neither the current flag or anthem were used. The flag was raised in 1916 after it was brought over to Ireland many years before while the anthem wasn't written until something like 1908.
Cusack and the lads in Hayes Hotel didn't give it a thought in 1884 so in 2016 how can we say what will be in 2050?

In English? Do you know what country we are from, we didn't go through thousands of years of wars just to use the neighbours language for a song

Well I know you country boyos have huge fancy club grounds with stands that can host speaker's to blare out the anthem for all ages but here in Dublin we don't have that luxury in our public parks
