They year is 2001, Galway are a man down against them who shall not be named. Kevin Broderick gets the ball and like a ballerina coming out from under a Christmas tree (to be said imitating Cyril Farrell) - The ball is shtuck to his hurl. a quick of the wrist and the ball is lobbed over Peter Barry (leaving him staring up field with the ball and Broderick still at full flight behind him.
Broderick doesn't need the ball in hand, for it is but merely another flick of the wrists, off the hurl and over the bar. Cats killed, but final lost - same old shorty in the end I'm afraid. But for a while, for a small while we all just stood back and went 'F-ing yeahhhhh'

From a Limerick pov - in my lifetime Ciaran Carey's point v Clare is the greatest score we've witnessed imo. Secondly was Ollie Moran's goal v Waterford in 2001 and Barry Foley's point from the line the same year. More recently Shane Dowlings late goal v Tipp in Thurles and his one handed point v Kilkenny in the AI Semi final were awe inspiring.

I think we're all a little guilty of being a bit biased on this one, and I'm no different. Darby's goal in '82 all day, every day for me. I could watch that on a continuous loop for a year and still get goosebumps.
Being biased......for Kildare, simply has to be Brian Murphy's goal v Meath in 1998. 42 years waiting for a Leinster......should have been out of sight but when Meath came back level, I thought we were done. Quick kick out from Byrne, collected by Earley, down the line to Lynch, peach of a ball across to Murphy. Little shimmy, buries it. Pandemonium. When I watched the Sunday Game that night I realised that the two points we scored after the goal (final score was 1-12 to 0-10) didn't ring any bells with me at all ! Those few minutes from the goal to the final whistle only time in my life I blacked out without alcohol being involved !
Outside of Kildare......remember this is iconic not best.....Mikey Sheehy's chip over Paddy Cullen (still makes me laugh just with how ridiculous it was) & DJ's point v Clare...standing still in Croker in the midst of an All Ireland final as if he was alone practising in his local club pitch....magical stuff.
