However this is not greatest goals of all time as if it were neither fokeys not darbys (push on back should've been free out) were great goals. The greatest goal I have seen was in O'Byrne cup ,
What we are talking about is iconic SCORES. And in that category it certainly is, unless we bring everything down to only in all ire finals, which is just gibberish spouted by a bitter teenager. Or we take every score on its merit. I am not asked to spell out why event was ranked number 1 in a public vote as the greatest moment in gaa history, not football but gaa, or made it to top 5 in greatest IRISH sporting moments, but sure you and gm know better than anyone else."
Considering my post stating that it isn't one of the most iconic goals ever scored is currently the highest ranked post in the last 24 hours, isn't your argument about some public vote stating it was the most iconic defeated?

RD it's a matter of opinion and for me it's not all that iconic in national terms.

Mulligans goal against the dubs wasn't in an all ireland final...it was the catalyst for something though.

No matter how many times I see that Darby goal I cant see how that slight hand on the Kerrymans back altered his position under the ball. I think that Doyle just misjudged it slightly and was out a bit far. It wasnt a clear push anyway.

I don't think on a forum where you can log in under numerous different accounts , usernames and like a post is hardly scientific, again I will go with the national broadcaster on this one rather than yourselves :). (btw I'm not suggesting you would do such a thing gotmilk)

Mike Sheehy's chipped free kick goal could rival Darby's as most iconic.

Haha I understand what you are saying and no I don't feel the need for multiple usernames lol. But surely a poll ran by a national broadcaster can be voted on numerous times by the one person.

Replying To Awwwwnow:  "He didn't nudge anybody... it was seamus Darby"
Yes, of course, it was Seamus Darby. I was at the game and like most, if not all, was shouting for Offally. However I had given up on them and then suddenly the goal came when there did'nt seem to be any great danger. We were all stunned. The roar from the crowd seemed to be an eternity in coming as if they were fearful that the ref was going to punish some infringement or other. In the aftermath Darby got all the headlines but, for me, the real hero of the day was the full-back who refused to accept defeat and drove the team on to the attack through his own efforts and sheer willpower. I don't know whether Darby nudged his marker or as I never actually saw a replay of the incident.

The Foley goal in 1991 was iconic for a number of reasons
The games themselves were attended by 237,000
First time a GAA Championship match was shown live on a Saturday
This series of game brough GAA back to the limelight after Italia 90
And went a long way to help Leinster Council out of financial difficulties
It was the defining moment of this series, which captured the attention of Irish public at large.
No money spent on advertising or marketing by GAA, would have had such a positive affect

JBM: 1973 football final Cork vs. Galway.....left foot shot into corner of net after he teased his marker for a full minute. Was great to be there.
JBM: Hurling Munster final against Tipp.....overhead double on a delivery from John Fenton that went into net from 30 yards out.

Yep .... Jimmy barry murphy was a class act

The Séamus Darby goal for Offaly against Kerry was the iconic score in my opinion. Maurice Fitzgerald point from sideline also for Kerry. Peter Canavan goal for Armagh won it for them in the 00's.

You might have been there for the football but you sure weren't for the hurling goal, it was against Galway in the AI semi!
