Replying To royaldunne:  "Well without question the two most iconic scores is Seamus Darby v Kerry goal, which ended the 5 in a row, and of course
Kevin Foley goal v Dublin which brought a end to the 4 game saga. Everything else pales into insignificance when you realise the enormity of both these occasions. Were they the best scores ever scored? No, but were they the most iconic? And will they stand the test of time? Absolutely ."
Darby yes
Foley no

The were great scores.

Dublin for 15 seasons were regularly at the business end of the championship without winning. Of course there'll be a lot of fond memories of scores versus them.

There are plenty of scores versus Kerry.

Kevin Mc's goals v Kerry in 2011 and 2013 are huge.

Cluxton's point vs Kerry in 2011.

Connolly 's point versus Kerry this year all huge.

Lee Keegan versus Dublin this would've been huge has they gone on to win.

Keegan's point versus Tyrone this year was immense.

Sean Cavanagh and Peter Harte had some huge scores in this year's Ulster final.

My point is Maurice Fitzgerald's side line score is talked about and showed over and over again we're as off the top of my head Ja Fallon kicked an unbelievable side line ball against Kildare in the all Ireland final that is not nearly as talked about as Fitzgerald's kick I'm just wondering is it cause it's against Dublin? Paul Mannion scored one of the greatest solo goals I've ever seen this year against the meanest defence in Gaa history and it barely gets a mention I'm convince if McBreaty or Murphy did that down the other end it would be talked about as one of the great goals for decades to come.

From a Meath point of view it has to be Kevin Foleys goal against Dublin and Jody Divine (super sub) deserves a mention for his points against Kildare in that three game saga

would it not just be that Maurice Fitz, one of the greats, had to land that point under immense pressure right at the death and he replied in typical genius fashion and not some great big Dublin conspiracy?

Ja Fallon gets plenty of prase as well, including a Laochra Gael episode with that point one of the highlights, so he's hardly the forgotten man.

As for Mannion's goal, I would say he falls victim to Dublin's dominance of the game. They have reached a level were great goals are almost expected and its hard to use all of them as iconic moments. And yes, if Murphy or McBrearty had done it for Donegal and it won them the game it would have been seen as the moment that broke the undefeated Dublin stranglehold and not just another goal, so you would hear more about it. That's life...

Gooch's goal against mayo in the allireland semifinal 2011, running out from the mayo goal won the ball between two mayo defenders turned and soloed in in and roof of the net.

Gooch's goal against cork in the 07 allireland final jumped with the goalie and shields and got a fist to the ball.

David Clifford's goal in the minor final this year v Galway.

What bias? It was a goal in a first round game. Did Meath win an all ireland that year? No. Did they win one the year after? No. It took 5 years to get an all ireland from that goal.

In meath terms its an iconic score, national terms not so much.

Where would this one rank in Meath GAA? I was sick when he scored it but given the timing and the occasion it was some score.

Yet was voted the greatest goal in gaa history on rte program few years back with Darby been second. Go figure.
Now if it was celebration's I believe that would have gone to Fermanagh for their ott celebration after beating, no wait drawing, nope not that either, after been hammered by dubs, you would have won that alright. :).

Honourable mention must go to Barney Rock for that last minute goal into the Hill against Cork in the 83 semi final to draw the game. Without that goal we wouldn't have had our day out in the sun by the Lee for the replay and no 12 Apostles in the final!

The best goal I've ever seen in Croke Park and arguably the most important for any county.

On another note...have a look at the Dublin line up which that goal eventually beat that day...
