eh no i was referring to ryle nugents twitter feed which said the ireland scotland game last friday got those figures - he also mentioned the 20s games were tied to the autumn internationals

the hoganstand main page right now has no camogie or ladies football . i suppose you will tell me they are biased against womens sports as well!!!

sure they will be showing lots of womens rugby instead...as apparently its in the national interest and draws huge viewership so we have been told....oh and the tournament is being hosted here so thats why!..because no other womens sports are hosted in ireland...

If rte were so pro rugby would they dropped GAA, soccer and use that money to show rugby ? Instead they are somehow biased by continually showing less rugby . Tin hat sales must be soaring"
drop the 2 highest drawing sports in the country for viewership?..sounds likely...Ryle Nugent ‏@RyleNugentRTE Feb 9

@flenehan women because it's a World Cup and we need to proactively balance our output to some degree. U20 is tied to Nov snr contract

the head of rte sport disagrees with you on womens rugby

alano what rugby draw is there to even show?...aeh the worldcup draw and the champions cup draw - how else do you think they make up the groups is it magic

..there is no all stars or rugby draw to show..... -eh the irupa awards or the irb/world rugby awards - which are pretty prestigious judging by dan carters and paul oconnells books.

alano i am talking about rights to matches, you keep bringing up highlights..yet again will you stop being disingenuous....

ok lets talk about rights to matches rte will show around 31 gaa games plus 3 camogie , They average around 20 per year in rugby , this year its around 30 due to womens world cup , next year practically nil ..this is common sense...stop acting like a child

oh i get it because you dont watch hurlingyou think rte show a lot less gaa....well problem solved detective holmes!!

.what other womens sports receive the same amount of coverage?..

none because its part of the deal to get the mens games it the gaa were clever enough to insist more camogie be shownas part of the rte deal they would get it as ryle has said "gaa rights are most important to to rte sport"
http://www.hoganstand.com/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=259738

the sports with the best womens coverage athletics and tennis are clever enough to run their championships in tandem with the mens ones so in order to get the mens tv right you have to show the womens same as the rugby - credit to them

if you have such a problem with womens rugby on rte here is a magical solution .......... get your remote control ...and change channel to one of th e800 odd other channels available !!!!!! and by magic the rugby dissappears ......

stop trying to deflect..thats what you posted.....again with a childish comment..stop trying to deflect from answering the questions put to you..why are the national broadcaster putting so much into showing womens rugby over other womens sports which are more popular?

the womens rights are not tied into the 6 nations deal according to ryle nugent..sure the deal in relation to the world cup was only announced this week..its due to it being hosted here..so please stop hiding behind that...i may not always agree with greenandred but at least he can be fair and doesnt resort to behaving like a fanboy and trying to take pot shots at me....im happy to have a reasonable debate with you but there is no need to be so defensive

if volleyball or hockey or whatever was being shown constantly over things more popular than it such as rugby/soccer etc i would be also questioning rte and why they are giving such preferential treatment to less popular sports.....its not anti rugby on my part and i highly doubt you would be going to such lengths to defend the coverage then..the reality is you are a big rugby guy and therefore like ormo feel the need for some reason to defend the biased coverage it receives on the national broadcaster...i honestly think you need to stop looking at things as anti rugby..its not...people just want the league and the club championship and womens gaa to get the proper coverage it warrants...there is no disputing the fact that those 3 things are way more popular than a lot of the rugby shown on the national broadcaster on rte outside of the senior 6 nations
