My main worry concerning this is that Johnny Cooper is too good a player to be kept at full-back. But with McCaffrey back hopefully it will all come together again.

Replying To Seansy48:  "They say that about american footballers in the NFL and they have to be the most catered to athletes in the world.

1 year out it's possible to knock off the rust

More than 2 and it's curtains

Tommy Walsh is a good example, maybe a top 5 forward before he left"
Tommy Walsh had an horrendous injury that would put most people out of the game. I have no doubt that if it wern't for that horrific injury he would be a regular on the Kerry team.

Why is McCaffery going to play full back and let Cooper go back out to the corner or wing?

I also take it 'username' that Keegan would never have scored that goal if Cian O'Sullivan's "hamstring injury wasn't getting worse all year". I think this is a little far fetched.

Getting back to the thread, IF Rory O'Carroll is not returning to the Dublin panel, best wishes to him. He is a good full back, who has won many accolades, as part of probably the best Dublin squad/team ever. However, to say he was the best ever, I would feel is simply somebody's opinion, which one is entitled to. For most of us, I would imagine you could make huge arguments for the likes of Paddy Christie, Gerry Hargan, Dermot Deasy or Sean Doherty. I would say they played on teams not good as the present and still stood out.

Hardly, it just lessens the blow, that's all.

Top class full back. Seems strange that a player in the prime of his career in the best team his county has ever had, winning all around him would walk away from the game. If he doesn't come back next year he is done IMO. I don't know much about him but hope he doesn't regret it later.

While I'm sure Dublin would like him back cooper has been excellent At FB and they can manage. Ironically the Dublin backs won them the AI when that was supposedly their weak point. There is several places up for grabs in the forwards and one at MF next year so it'll be very interesting to watch Dublin evolve.

David he's marked all the big names and got the better of nearly them all, from what I seen of Sean Doherty (decade of the Dubs) he was brutal if I'm being completely honest, Christie and Hargan took a lot of roasting's I never seen Tory get roasted granted forwards got the better of him but never destroyed him. For me he's the best full back we've ever had.
