Replying To Whammo86:  "See when you're comparing Kerry of now to Kerry of 04-09 you're comparing the 2nd or even 3rd best team to the best team. Comparing current Mayo who are 2nd or 3rd to 2000s Mayo isn't really fair either.

Today's Kerry and Mayo should be compared to Tyrone and Cork of the mid to late 2000s.

They probably aren't quite as good, but I think it's not as dire as some on here make out and I don't think it should detract from Dublin's achievements.

On one hand current Kerry and Mayo definitely don't have the silverware but when you look closer at results those teams really haven't been losing to anyone other than each other.

I do agree though that the competition below Donegal has been very soft."
but who else is there really?...armagh you are forgetting were an exceptional side up until 2006 when kerry gave them a good beating..cork later on in the decade very very strong..the third or 4th best team in that period was better than the 2nd best team in this period in my view..donegal were special in 2012 but they never replicated it again....tyrone have always flattered to deceive and have failed to produce a forward similar to mayo....i think its very close and dublin are far from finished...and i think we in the 00s were an underrated side at times..very good in 2002, 2005, 2006 up to mayo collapse...2007 ran kerry close...its the 2 infamous days against tyrone and kerry which leave a lasting memory..we werent brilliant but we brought a lot to the table

cork turning into such a mess and never fulfilling their potential has hurt the competition as a whole this decade..they looked set to dominate at one stage

Yeah their county board has a lot to answer for.

An All Ireland winning team with some outstanding players (Colm O'Neill wasn't even fit that year) and 4 years of dominance at under 21 level in Munster. They should be a top 3 or 4 team, no doubt.

Is this Dublin team one of the best? In one respect, yes. They grind out the wins. They weren't great throughout this Championship but they kept winning. It's up to the chasing pack to catch them.

Kerry need to blood more young players so they can finish stronger. Mayo desperately need a player or two who can kick points from distance. Tyrone need to trust their attacking instincts more. Donegal could do with greater variety to their game plan.

Other than that, Cork must make like Lazarus, Tipperary are well advised to keep on course and teams like Galway had better raise their game still more.

2009 when they beat us in the Semi I thought with their size they were going to change football!

It was the first time I thought that that Tyrone team looked small, I'd have to think the heartbreak of losing that final broke them a bit, they went on to win Sam next year but it wasn't the same. They lost playing great football and then won playing relatively bad football in comparison

yeah they were poor when they won it..nicholas murphy badly hurt after 2009 so they never replaced him really

Only time will judge this Dublin team, teams are always elevated when their lifecycle is over.

I'm pretty confident this Dublin team will be up there with anyone when discussions had.

I can understand the Dublin faituqe at this stage of dominance though.

No mention of Cork for recent comparisons.
They won the previous 3 leagues in a row and that team also won Sam
