Ciaran Kilkenny for me has been sensational for Dublin all year and is my poty. I thought Kilkenny was our motm yesterday he was everywhere.

Fenton is phenomenal but I think Kilkenny pulls the strings.

He sacrifices himself for the team and threads the patient passes that slalom through the blanket defences which I think is crucial.

Yesterday he set up two points early on to get Dublin up and running and gave the pass to Costello for a crucial late score. He goes the full 70 and his possession stats are off the charts. They cynics say he is not effective but I think you have to measure with blank defences cos those teams want to kill you on the counter.

I think Fenton is a joy to watch and would be a worthy recipient himself if he wins it.

Lee Keegan best half back in the game but how can he be poty he got black carded (very harsh) and wasn't on the pitch when his county needed him most plus surely a county that does the league and championship double and been unbeaten all year has to have a poty on their team?

Agreed on Keegan.

No, you don't have to play on an unbeaten team to win POTY but it is highly probable that the POTY would come from such a team.

Dan Shanahan won hurler of the year in 2007 and Waterford didn't make the final.

POTY, like the all-stars should be about individual performance and not team performance. Having said that I think it's between Kilkenny and Fenton.

Fenton for me too. Great midfielder and very good in all key matches - the SF v Kerry and the two final games. Was a worthy shout last year too so he deserves it this time around.

I thought Feton was a very worthy poty & I agree Kilkenny is a very important part of that team but Fentons skill, both feet, aerial ability, passing off the hand & foot, movement & scores shades it for him. I think Jim Gavin is a shrewd manager who thinks outside the box as Kilkenny is a link player akin to a point guard in b'ball or esp a scrum half in rugby. Like a scrum half he is always available & starts the ball moving again a role clearly defined by Jim Gavin.

And if I'm not correct, did Bernard Brogan win player of the year in 2010 after losing semi final to Cork?

Yeah exactly, it's a unique role that Kilkenny plays. Very subtle and effective, of all the Dublin players he probably expresses Gavin's philosophy to the game the most.

Gavin is a brilliant manager, it says it all when Jimmy McGuinness is the only one to outsmart him to date.

Correct Brogan won it in 2010 when Cork were champions.

I think himself and Lar met the Queen in Croke park the following May.

In the two finals imo Keegan did not do enough to warrant poty. That's just my opinion, Bernard was stand out that year plus Cork didn't get one forward all star that year.

Yeah Bernard Brogan was brilliant in 2010, but for me Graham Canty drove the Rebels to victory and was my player of the year. Not taking away from Brogan's unerring accuracy that year.

David he was taken off at ht in the Dublin semi final and he only came on in the second half of the final against Down that year.

If Johnny Cooper had not been black carded he would have been in with a serious shout.

Previously went for Geaney but following replay game my vote now goes to Lee Keegan. Always admired him as an outstanding footballer and he was dominating affairs in the first half on Saturday. No way should he have been black carded for the incident he was involved in. Dublin media pressure got to ref on this decision which was just a pure bad call IMO. This probably cost Mayo the game (as well as their goalkeeping switch).
