One that i find ridiculous is co-commentator, telling us that a player 'caressed' the ball beautifully over the bar. This is usually used when a ball is hit over the bar on the right hand side of the pitch with the inside of the left foot ala Diarmuid Connolly's last point in the semi against Kerry. The aforementioned co-commentator feels he has to stamp ever passage of play with his 'beautiful' figurative verbosity.
