Have Wexford done away with the yellow belly? -YEP WEAR PURPLE NOW

Suppose that goalie jersies started changing decades ago when they started wearing different clouts from the outfielders.-GOOD POINT

Keepers jersies being same as rest of the team as no more - think it changed around 1975 in hurling possibly football before then

Replying To Offside_Rule:  "Surely you have been to Casement cavanman? Respect always was rightfully given to the full anthem - was always announced prior over the PA to respect it to the end in keeping with the tradition in Casement. Never understand why supporters at other grounds can't refrain from gouling and cheering for a few more seconds until the singer/band has finished or why players break away while still being performed. Very disrespectful."
I was told by a corkman that they start roaring at 'le gunna scréach'.
I don't understand it either, but to each their own.

"The Cross of Cashel", The old U-21 Hurling trophy and my favorite GAA trophy.

Always thought it looked like the spoils of a medieval battle rather than a sports trophy

Me neither. People make far too big a deal out of this. I like it and don't consider it disrespectful in any way, It's rousing and positive. It's a moan for high-horsers.

No high horse on my account and each to their own - I for one will always wait til the final note is played before sitting down or whatever. I just don't see how a few seconds makes a difference when it is our National Anthem being played. What is the rush to start shouting and cheering anyway?

Players were the only ones wearing the county jersey.

Now everyone has them, hence no need for rosettes and less caps and flags and badges etc.

Kind of preferred it when only players wore the jersey, like it was a privilege or honour that you had to earn.

It's a release of tension. The song builds to then so it's a natural enough reaction if you ask me.

Probably has a lot to do with the advent of sponsorship in the early 1990s. That's another relic of a bygone era, actually: sponsor less jerseys.
