. It appears the Limerick boys are not happy county songs are played after a match, unless it's their own. CletusVanDamme (Kerry) - Posts:20 - 12/09/2016 16:21:25 1913161

If we ever do win an all ireland cletus i can assure you we wont need any music to make the day or occasion any better
Ormondbannerman quote 'Playing the script or any other band/act isn't disrespectful or take away from Tupp winning. And speeches shouldn't happen at the trophy presentation. Let that occur to media or later on in the day. Its just so old fashioned..'
Don't confuse 'old fashioned' with tradition. If their was no presentation speech we would never have heard the brilliant speech made by the Carlow Camogie captain yesterday. We would never have had Joe Connolly or Anthony Daly's spine tingling orations either. If we get only one in 20 great post match speeches as opposed to the banal ones it's still worth sticking with tradition in my opinion. There are magnificent inspirational speeches to be made when Waterford, Limerick, in hurling, and Mayo, Roscommon etc (and hopefully Laois!) make their breakthrough in football.
Give me a players' rendition of the Galtee Mountain Boy as Tipp did in 2010 over The Script and 'Hall of Fame' any day.
I agree with Janesboro. I don't mind the aong being played, it's nice it is the traditional county song but I also think that it is too soon to start playing it immediately after the final whistle. I'd leave it for a few minutes before playing it. On a slightly related topic, I remember when they'd play a snippet of the county song when a player from that county was going up to pick up their all star on awards night. Now they play the same piece of pop music for all recipients. I think they shoul return to the old method. It would be nice to heat the chorus of Limerick You're A Lady being played nine times in 2017 on all stars night after our all Ireland victory pj_mcmanus (Limerick) - Posts:296 - 11/09/2016 13:58:24There isn't much point in playing anything several minutes after. The perfect time is directly as the game ends. You could make same argument about playing songs at end of game and all stars.... Don't confuse 'old fashioned' with tradition. I hated them when winning captains on teams ive played on have made them and captains on teams ive coached have made them.
