Commentators (and a lot of posters on here) seem to love the phrase "common sense" when a referee ignores the laws of the game in an attempt to apparently improve the game as a spectacle. How the hell are players meant to know how to tackle, shoulder, play the ball, etc. if the referee has taken the laws of our game into his own hands and is making it up as he goes along? Sunday was a prime example."
'common sense' is one important aspect that distinguish the human from the animal and the human is supposed to be able to use from time to time -even a Ref.

Yes the rule changed. But I'm sure Soma will be on hand to put you right. He'll tell you which rules should be enforced and which ones shouldn't while he's at it.

Always happy to help. If after an outstanding game of football you are going to write post after post criticising an amateur referee doing his best and who got the vast majority of the decisions right then I think the least you could do is familiarise yourself with the actual rules.

Replying To Joxer:  "Were those games played at the same pace and intensity Malonemagic. These are two huge factors when it comes to some of those calls. The ball was pinging back and forth at a fierce rate, a tall order for any ref to keep up. Not sure about your different rules for different teams argument. Dublin ended up with 12 men in the quarter final. Hardly any favouritism from the ref in that game if that is what you are implying. Black cards are a nonsense though."
Joxer i think i to agree a bit with magic on this, while this was a great game to watch. and players played it in sporting manner and game had everything. i know refs don't go out to favour one team and and do the best they can. but if you do go to a division 1 match and then went to a d4 match you would nearly think their was new and different rules. yes game is slower and not same skill level in d4, maybe it is down to that and maybe also a lest experience ref. if nothing else it show importance of playing in the league at the highest level
