All-Irelands won by a late dubious free?

Meath won the replay so sort of a winning free"
That was 1988, 1990 cork won

Cork did the double in 1990 think the drawn final was 88

Not late free but 2009, winning team got away with a straight red from the throw in, offender scored 2 points and contributed for full game.

Seriously, where does this sh**e come from?

The 2011 final, Kerry were hard done by, yes. But not by the last free - it was a clear free. Plain as day.

You could call the 2013 final a dubious free with the ref telling Mayo they had time to take their point then blowing the whistle straight after the restart.

If anyone is hinting at 2015, then they're way off the mark. Dublin did actually deserve that All Ireland.

Dublin Tyrone in 1995: a dubious free given against Peter Canavan as he was about to kick the equaliser in the final seconds. That game was also noteworthy because of the controversy around Charlie Redmond's double sending off, I think.

Any examples of a team falling asleep for the majority of the last 10 minutes of the match and losing the final from a very controlling position?

ourselves in 94 didnt fall asleep but lost from controlling position - a day that will haunt us forever

Seem to remember Maurice Fitz converting a dodgy free against Armagh in the All-Ireland semi-final back in 2000; could be argued that it won Kerry Sam that year.

Sorry Zul I wasn't talking about the match on Sunday,

I think it was 2011?? Would I be right ? Lol

Our crowd got wicked complacent on the day. They were breezing through that championship and were like an oil tanker drifting into port.

The capital respectfully drew level on the day.

Mayo in 2013. Oh my God. Seriously. The game was there for them. Every genuine person who watched the game says it. There's already another thread on it. '13 will haunt this current Mayo team if they don't land the holy grail.

1982 - Offaly got several dubious late frees

2011 - Dublin got several dubious late frees

1989 (?) Tommy Sugrue gave very dubious late free to Meat to draw with Cork and they won the replay (shocking decision this -pls excuse if year is wrong).

They still respectfully drew level on the day. The complacency of our crowd was shocking. Our crowd didn't deserve to win on the day as a result.

Kerry were dead on their feet with 10 to go. Dublin, like a wise prize fighter, had absorbed everything that the Kingdom could throw at them and they decided to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. Cian O'Sullivan had his jersey pulled off him, takes a quick free to Alan who strolls by a jaded Sheehan then feeds to Kev who sidesteps an exhausted Dec O'Sullivan and slots it in. Ball comes out, Maher rugby tackles MDM to the ground, quick ball to Kevin Nolan who points from almost halfway. Kerry visibly drained and struggling now. Brogan receives the ball in the corner and points off his left. Dubs have scored 1-2 in last 4 mins, all spectacular scores. Dublin now pressing, MDM misses a sitter. Ball comes out to Donaghy who points from 45m. Ball comes out to Brennan who secures but is pushed to the ground by Maher. Dublin get free but Donaghy and Maher are crowding and jostling Brennan. Ball should be moved up 10 but isn't. Brennan pushes Donaghy away so ref gives a hop ball, very dubious decision. Dubs win the hop and ball played to Connolly who is dragged and pulled by Donaghy and O'Mahony. Free should be awarded but another dubious decision sees the ref allowing play to go on. Hand pass to Kev who goes to jink inside BJK who for some strange reason spreads his legs as wide as the base of the Eiffel tower and so trips Kev. Up steps the greatest keeper to ever play the game and in the face of a torrent of verbals from "Star" still slots over to make this the greatest finish to an AI final in the history of the sport.

So much for Dublin's luck and dubious frees. Better and, more importantly, fitter team won on the day. But that was half a decade ago! Safe travelling to all coming up to the capital fom the kingdom. Should be a great occasion.

Offaly 1982? The bomber rugby tackled Sean Lowry for the last free before the goal. Black card by today's standards nothing dubious and shows Tyrone didn't invent this type of thing. And as seamus Darby said Tommy Doyle misjudged the flight of the ball before it landed in darbys arms and sure why wouldn't you believe him he wouldn't have a reason to be creative with the truth ;)
