If they had finished the stadium properly and built the stand all around this wouldn't be an issue. As for cheap tickets. Its the All Ireland final FFS. €80 is positively bargain basement.

What do you mean by finish the stadium properly?
They cant do any work at hill 16 end considering the houses behind it and the cost to redevelop it would be astronomical and there isn't a need to redevelop it.
€80 isn't cheap even for an all Ireland final

Ah you know us Kerry folk don't like to brag about our fortunate place in the world..it really is a blessing. You can thank me Sunday evening for your profits.

I don't know what will be better on Sunday evr. My 5 euro winning bet in my back pocket or seeing all the dubs drinking into their pints realising that you will never get the better of Kerry in the long run.

My post was in response to the posts claiming that the hill should be Dublin only - i.e. segregating fans. I feel all areas of the stadium should contain a mix of both sets of supporters (or 4 or 6 sets depending on double headers/minor games, etc.)

How would that have anything to do with how much live English or Scottish soccer I have watched?"
Again I fail to see where anybody said it should be Dublin only?
The fact that all year the other counties won't go to the hill surely means come sell out games involving Dublin the gaa should look at that and say well the Dubs rather the hill so give the majority of hill tickets to them and give a larger area in the canal end to the opposition.
also to the other guy nobody has stated Dublin are in this years final yet, this is a topic relevant for this weekends game as it will be a full house too.

I'd personally like to see crowd segregation , many here won't agree but just look at the banter that is on the hill when the Dubs play .Being surrounded by your own adds a bit to the atmosphere , again , most won't agree but it won't be changing regardless.

I agree with you about there being no need for segregation but the "trust the Dubs" routine wears a bit thin. A couple of posters on a message board float the idea and suddenly a whole counties fans get a metaphorical kicking for it. And even if segregation happened (and it won't in a million years) I seriously doubt it would be for the same reason as in soccer (curiously, across the globe, not just in the UK, it isn't the garrison game any longer you know, the rest of the planet is quite keen on soccer, too) i.e being unable to guarantee the safety of spectators from groups of organised hooligans.

You're going to be surrounded by your own regardless. Depending who you play, the opposition fans are generally great banter.

I think it's truly the most special thing about the GAA.

Here I agree with you but I'm 99% sure i've seen Ormo tell people before on this site that 80 euro for the ticket of the final is good value.

Hmmmm 80E (£68 exchange rate according to google). Is that the price of every single ticket with the exception of the hill? In which case I'd agree. If you're talking the decent seats in the centre blocks I'd actually hike those up a bit from 80 and use the money to fund concessions and cheaper seating behind the nets, in the corners etc.

And the few hardy souls from the aran islands who support Galway can never do it up and down in the one day. Mind you coming from Connemara to Croker to support the footballers predominantly is added to by try and getting through Galway City's manic traffic.

Time to build a proper ring road around Galway.

Ormo how is 80 euro steep for an all Ireland final? Sure don't rugby charge that for a test match? Even more in times gone by too. Now that's what I call steep.

Jack I think €80 is steep for all ireland final and also steep for rugby international or indeed any other sport. Hence I dont bother going to internationals and only go to all ireland when limerick are there (which is rare). PRefer to spend the money supporting my club in both GAA and rugby - far better value and way more fun.

Whats really steep is having no kids concession tickets. In fairness the IRFU have kids tickets for internationals. For every other game the GAA is excellent value pricewise when it comes to kids.

One good think about the €80 ticket price is that it can deter the more lukewarm spectator leaving more tickets for the die hard nutter. Be heading croke park to cheer on minors sunday. Come on Limerick

In All Ireland finals most of the tickets don't go to the competing counties but the vast majority of the terrace tickets go to the competing counties. So it would be hard for the GAA not to split the terrace tickets up fairly evenly if they want to give both competing counties a fair share of total tickets for the stadium. (One thing I always find funny is hearing people talking about the colourful scene on the hill when Dublin play, surely it is far more colourful when the hill is split between counties).
A bigger issue I think is that the GAA should send more tickets to the competing counties and less to the non competing counties. I always remember years ago when Meath used to get to finals Meath would get a ticket allocation which did not nearly match demand. It would be the same for who Meath were playing. Both counties would end up bringing up much more supporters to the final than their ticket allocation due to sourcing tickets in other counties. It would have seemed simpler just to send more tickets to the competing counties in the first place.
