Mayo in dreamland

Replying To Pope_Benedict:  "I don't see the issue with this so called 'div1 team' aspect. Roscommon were graded higher than Tyrone in the NFL table in 2016, but nobody thinks that they are remotely as good a side. It makes the whole 'not beating a div1 team' discussion sound hollow & silly, imo. The problem I see with Mayo is that a number of their more seasoned players aren't in great form this season, but they beat Tyrone when it mattered, and deserve their place in the final on the back of that."
Well I was just making a point as everyone seems to be making a big song and dance about it.

It's funny the last few years mayo played much better but never got the lucky breaks n games
This year they aren't playing half as well but are getting the breaks when it matters ...
Maybe it is their year well know n a few weeks
From a totally objective standpoint it is very hard to see how given their performances to date that they will beat dublin or even kerry
Tho I'd give them a better chance against kerry !

Given their performances this season, there is nothing to suggest that Mayo can win the final. But they are only 70 minutes away from winning it and have some great players. The biggest problem for Mayo is their up and down performances during the games. They look terrible for parts of the game and then they go through a 10 minute purple patch when they don't look like missing. If they could put together a solid 70 minute performance they can definitely win it. They have some terrific players but some of them just aren't performing. They have played much better the previous 2 years and didn't make the final, what a strange year. Maybe their name is on the cup this year, they deserve a bit of luck.

I think Mayo are in a great place going into the All Ireland Final. They've arrived in a final without ever needing to be consistently at their best. Moreover, it's very difficult to put really outstanding team performances back to back and that will be the difficulty for Kerry and Dublin who now have to peak in order to beat each other. Peaking twice and in two successive games is notoriously difficult so Dublin or Kerry coming through - could will be vulnerable in a final. It won't be a surprise if Mayo win it out. Mayo the underdogs! Not really, their a hugely experienced team now and the final will be a 50/50 contest with the best still to come from Mayo so if anything, it's slight advantage Mayo.

agree with you, this is the perfect situation for Mayo, a draw next weekend would even be better. Mayo would rather meet Kerry id say next month.
