Paul Geaney

Woops I'm nit picking but one of his two points was a quick free when no one was looking apart from his other point he didn't really do much, now JOD on the other hand kicked 3 great scores and you can't take your eye off him for a minute is way ahead of Geaney imo. Geaney is getting rave reviews and I can't think of him being this outstanding forward from what I've seen, even against Clare he started well but then disappeared in the 2nd half.

thanks chaps

not disputing his class just to be called a great, and i appreciate neither of you have used that term and in fact both of you have been at pains to not over do it, but you hear some lads say how brilliant he is etc etc....i can only judge on games i have seen him in the flesh and I dont see it.

Another I would say that about is David Moran
I have seen him a few times now against us and to be absolutely honest here, he has been fairly bad and nothing like the player we are told he is. I would rate Maher ahead of him all day long

I don't think anybody in Kerry rates Moran or Geaney among the greats. Very good players, but both have a lot to do to be held In that regard. Moran is 28 now so he'd want to be hurrying on, has had desperate bad luck over the years with injury in fairness to him.

I believe a fully fit and motoring James O'Donoghue to be the most dangerous inside forward in the game. McManus runs him close but O'Donoghue has that explosiveness to score goals out of nothing. I'm trying to think of a similar player from bygone years - maybe James McCartan in his pomp.

I don't think O'Donoghue is that great, did he even score against us in 2014? he's a great wee player but he hasn't the strength when he's marked tight to cope with the physical stuff.

Really? Who has marked him out of it and physically outmatched him? I can't remember any back doing that to him, he's always good for a couple of points minimum and usually gets the better of his man.

He didn't score in that 2014 finals as he spent most of his time around the middle. EF knew he'd get no service in the corner and gave him a different role that day so not a surprise he didn't score. He's without a doubt one of the top forwards around, his kicking accuracy off both feet is sublime and he's quick and very strong. If only he could stay properly fit.

Baffled when Geaney was taken off.. was he injured? Was fearful every time he got the ball - he always looked a threat!

He got that knock in the 1St half when COS tackled him. Was down for a few mins. Maybe he wasn't right after.

He could hardly run when he was taken off. He was tracking back all game and covered every blade of grass, and too a fair knock too. I hope that performance puts to bed any question mark people had over him as I know not everybody was convinced. He was the best player on the pitch today for me.
