Cavanaghs likely departure from intrecounty football was not a moment that should be your last moment in your county jersey , one of the best players in the country should retire from intercounty should be leaving on a high note and proud to leave after his last match , if he stays for on more year he could leave with an all ireland medal in his back pocket. Plus tyrone fans and even nuetrals like me would love one more glimpse of cavanagh in action . Please dont go . oakleafersir (Derry) - Posts: 808 - 09/08/2016 14:47:53 1898842 Link 1 |

Give the man a break, he's still trying to climb out of Lee Keegan's back pocket. Gleebo (Mayo) - Posts: 2208 - 09/08/2016 19:31:16 1899039 Link 2 |
Agree 100%. The way the benches get run out these days there is room on Tyrone squad for a player of his talent to play a first half or last 15/20 of second half and have a huge impact on a game. His leadership with the younger lads would also be very beneficial to the squad. One more year and big Sean and Mickey to leave together with one more all Ireland !! It's within this squad to do it. The talent is there. seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 09/08/2016 19:34:48 1899042 Link 0 |
he still has plenty to offer and could have been the difference at the end of saturday's game had he still been on the field. he's doing the right thing by not making a decision in the heat of the moment but hopefully it means he'll stay on. a colossal player from the start of his career to present dat and Tyrone will be better served with him than without him next year. Remind us all again Gleebo how many All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Winners Medals has Lee Keegan got. TyroneUltra (Tyrone) - Posts: 307 - 09/08/2016 19:58:02 1899055 Link 3 |
People are saying Lee Keegan is the best half back in ireland well , Petre Harte , Ryan McHugh , James McCarthy , Gary ODonnel , Brendan Rodgers and much more others so put Sean Cavanagh on any other of those players he would have a real task of getting scores

The exact same number as some outstanding footballers of the past like Eugene Mckenna and Plunket Donaghy, I'm not sure what point you are trying to make?

That's quite funny lol.!So we can garner from this that Lee Keegan looks into his back pocket and sees big Sean, and big Sean looks into his back pocket and sees 3 all Ireland senior championship winners medals. Boom! I know which pocket I'd rather have, and what's more so would Lee Keegan!

Since we're asking questions, I'll give you one to chew on: remind me how many points respectively did Sean Cavanagh and Lee Keegan score on Saturday? No-one's saying Cavanagh wasn't a great player in the past, but IMO he hasn't really hit the high notes in the latter stages of the All-Ireland series for a few years now. He didn't play well on Saturday, didn't play well in the semi-final against Kerry last year and didn't do all that well against Mayo in the 2013 semi-final. If you don't know the point he is trying to make then you must be a wee bit thick.

I hope Sean Cavanagh stays on too. I think he has been outstanding this year. I think Tyrone have an outstanding young team and are likely to be contenders next year as they were this year. I think he would have come into the game more on Saturday evening had he stayed on the field. I cannot say that for certain of course (it is pure conjecture). They had plenty of chances to win it without him on Saturday and didn't do it. They are in healthy position though - very few changes needed really. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 09/08/2016 21:45:46 1899132 Link 1 |
Lee would give all his man of the matchs in the world for half the glory cavanagh has in his back pocket. Enjoy your annual bottling

When Lee Keegan gets his first All Ireland medal then you can start comparing.

I fully agree with you however I do think that there's quite a bit of tinkering to be done to their forward line as they badly need a reliable free taker and a good forward. They've got the team while in Monaghan we have the marquee forward.

Agree WTF - Keegan doesn't have 3 all Ireland's and player of the year - so Cavanagh will think keegan is the peeble in his shoe as most people will think - with respect to post I would have Sean on team as the free taker other than Morgan, Oneill, mcalliskey, et al - but that's a Tyrone thing because they obviously think they have good free takers - NOT!!!

One of the greatest players we've seen over the last 15 years. Carried Tyrone more often that not and was never one to shy away from the big occasion. Would be disappointing to see his inter county career end the way it did at the weekend and I'm hopeful that that won't sit well with him. Definitely has it in him to lead this group for one more year at least. hsh (Down) - Posts: 2 - 10/08/2016 00:20:35 1899192 Link 0 |
Given that Tyrone were favourites on Saturday and missed several chances to win the game, I would suggest the most recent bottling has come far closer to home. Never mind, they're a young side and will be back, with or without Cavanagh.

Lads, this not having an All Ireland medal insult is embarrassing. Especially coming from posters whose Counties are hardly laden down with them. Sideline_View (Tyrone) - Posts: 62 - 10/08/2016 10:31:53 1899269 Link 1 |
Wonderful player , our game needs players like him , equally if he decides to move on he owes no one anything , time for someone to step up into the big mans shoes. Damothedub (Dublin) - Posts: 5193 - 10/08/2016 10:50:34 1899286 Link 0 |
