Football eras can be contacted compared in the context of their time. The County Dublin team of the mid 70's in the context of their time were a great team. The 4 Regions of the 10's are good in the context of their time. Their is no great team at this moment. The 4 Regions would beat the County Dublin team of the 70's but that's not looking in the context of the time. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7853 - 07/08/2016 11:27:31 1897227 Link 0 |

The teams of from you mentioned from 2000 onwards did not have to deal with the blanket defence that we're seeing now .If any of the present crop went 15 on 15 with this Dublin outfit they would be obliterated that's why we are seeing this 13 or 14 men behind the ball muck in so many games. Managers and so called coaches are admitting they can't play football against Dublin and hope to win so let's frustrate them and hope for the best. If I had one wish for the rest of the year it would be to see a Dublin V Tipperary Final. Two Football teams going at it.

If I compare teams from different eras in any sport it us only fair to assume if they were around at the same time they would be prepared in a similar way ie if I was comparing a team from 20 years ago to a team today I would assume that both teams had access to the same standard of training and strength and conditioning programs. For example yesterday's Tyrone team if they got a time machine would probably beat the Tyrone team of 2003 due to being fitter/ stronger (strength and conditioning programs has come a long way in 13 years) but it would be crazy to say Tyrone 2016 are better than Tyrone 2003. bdbuddah (Meath) - Posts: 1354 - 07/08/2016 12:06:23 1897256 Link 0 |
