Harte says Sean Cavanagh was targeted?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Jaysus lads, all star players have been targeted since time began, part of the game whether we like it or not. Everything is so PC and analysed more since the internet came along, changes nothing.

Typical bitter comments from Mickey Harte, I have a lot of time for Sean Cavanagh, he's easily one of the best of the last decade but his manager? I'm not a fan!

Don't get me wrong I'll happily cheer any Ulster team ,but at the same time not be blind to the obvious negatives be it Paul Galvin "swatting wasps" or Christy Toye's antics v Dublin in the 2014 semi...and the reason we have the black card is Sean Cavanagh, Croke Park 2014.

Agree, I don't have much time for Mickey Harte. But I suppose he is just defending his player. Good man management. One of his strengths.

Cavanagh comes out at the start of the second half, drives a shoulder into Keegan, which results in them both wrestling on the ground and both being yellowed.
That's not Keegan targeting Cavanagh, it's Cavanagh being stupid.

If we had someone like him I certainly be happy. He has been one of the best managers anywhere, took Tyrone from never winning an AI to winning minors, u21's and 3 senior All Irelands- very few with that on their CV

Is any wonder us people in tyrone think there is an anti tyrone feeling out there. People here are lining up to stick the boot in, especially people in lower counties such as monaghan and down. Give me 1 team who has been successful over the past 10 years who have not been involved in numerous incidents? All teams have done things they should not be proud off on the way to winning an all Ireland.

I would never lower myself to gain happiness from another teams defeat but I may have to start as it seems to be the normal thing to do.

The joy I will take is that I know Tyrone will be in the mix next year again. While fans of lesser counties will have to wait until tyrone lose again to gain satisfaction.

Im a huge admirer of Tyrone and what Mickey Harte has achieved with them but yesterday's comments were undignified and hypocritical. It reminded me of something you'd hear from Jose Mourinho in defeat. I defend Tyrone in what i see as unjustified criticism from pundits and posters about them being more physical and cynical than the rest as its clear every team is at it and anyone that says otherwise just doesnt want to hear the truth. but its hard to call Harte's comments anything other than sour grapes. it was no doubt a tough pill to swallow losing as they did but hopefully when the dust settles he'll do the right thing and retract those comments because it wasn't the reason Tyrone lost that's for sure

Pity we didn't have a Lee Keegan on our team yesterday, a great player in the "Ricey" mould.

Replying To browncows:  "You are making very little logic sense. Harte is correct. Kavanagh was targeted and anyone who thinks differently knows little about the game and probably played junior football or indeed played no football but is an expert"
Did I say Cavanagh wasn't targeted?? Did you read my post properly?? Do you not have the capacity to understand I was referring to Harte being hypocritical?? Obviously not, and anyone's playing career is irrelevant to their ability to form opinion and have a say on a matter, I suggest you purchase some common sense the next time your out shopping.

Replying To avonali:  "that was a very harsh decision on Cavanagh. End of.` second offence did not merit a yellow card."
Second yellow wasn't merited? Anybody who plays the game knows if your arm is high whether its a full clothesline tackle or a limp accidental high tackle as was yesterdays its a yellow card, as you'd say yourself EndOf. Cavanagh should have been more careful as he was on a yellow. Great player and servant for Tyrone. Mickey Harte will hopefully see sense when the dust settles. Id expect an All Ireland out of this Tyrone team in the next few years. Great to beat Tyrone at their own game.

Felt very sorry for Cavanagh yesterday but Harte should accept that if you live by the sword you die by the sword. Tyrone were antagonistic yesterday, particularly targeting O'Shea. I have no problem with that, if you want to test a guys mettle fair enough but you can't whinge when it backfires. The fact that Keegan, a defender managed to keep his discipline better than Cavanagh is a testament to him.

O'Shea has a red card coming though. He takes a lot of abuse and only just about keeps his head. Probably deserves more from referees but he's not going to get it. Not after Fermanagh.

Well he is defending his player but I find his near constant moaning and 'the world v Tyrone' attitude very tiresome by times.

Give it over harte..sure every great player is always targeted.look at connolly yesterday as an example.its just part of the game and theres no way of stopping it.instead of moaning about it why dont they question why they didnt go for it yesterday in the closing stages instead of sticking to their defensive gameplan keeping all them bodies back.
