Unfair allocation of GAA money yet again

Replying To RoyalBadger:  "The horse has already bolted. The Death Star has been given too much money for too long, along with free facilities.
Do they really thing Louth and Wicklow can ever catch them? Meath and Kildare are already decades behind."
How come Donegal,Mayo,Monaghan,Tyrone Kerry Cork are not decades behind??

Are the decision makers in the Leinster Council (and the GAA for that matter) just utterly stupid or are they seeing how far they can go with taking the p*ss?

If they were limiting the counties that would receive aid to 4 it would have been better to give it to counties who have been in Div3/4 of the league.
At least then you could say that there was some sort of structured approach to who was receiving the funds.
For example an extra 600k plus would go a long way in counties like Wicklow and Carlow which would bring them to an even keel with most of the rest, with the end possibility of at least a chance for a Leinster semi final place. This would be monumental for those counties where one win in Leinster is something that comes around once every 10 years.
Would this extra money really bring Meath and Kildare closer to Dublin?

Giving it to counties because "they are on the commuter belt" is utterly ridiculous.

I would like to hear an official from the Leinster Council explain the rationale behind the decision to ignore the other seven counties in Leinster (already, the weakest of the four provinces). How does this close the gap? IMO, it just creates another one.

Lads, extremely clever thinks on behalf of the Dublin I mean leinster board pump money into the counties that have the largest number of Dubs living in them so that if they can take all the good players back in a couple years.. Clever Dubs.....

On a another note all the counties in Leinster should be ashamed of themselves for letting these thing happen , Dubs cannot be blamed for getting all the good deals they are just smarter

Leinster council make mad decision and its Dublin's fault?? A lot of crazy people posting here and with a serious anti Dublin vibe.

Whingers get out and support your counties first then have a cry about how unfair everything is. Look at attendances in both codes this season and its embarrassing once you take out Dublin football games.

I'm not blaming Dublin at all. Good luck to them. Its the body that is supposed to represent the twelve counties in the province fairly, that I have a problem with.

Would not be too smug about the numbers Dublin have supporting them at present, how many will be around when Dublin go through a bad spell, you just have to look at Munster rugby and its present level of support, not so long ago we heard how these die hard fans support them through thick and thin. Everybody loves a winner.

I'd say louth and Wicklow are only thrown in there because there would be uproar if it was only Meath and Kildare got the funding. But I'd say that's all that will happen. Louth and wicklow might get thrown a few quid but the real investment will be in the 2 counties who have any realistic chance of taking on Dublin in the next decade.

This isn't at all fair of course but neither was the millions invested in Dublin over the course of the last 10+ years so the GAA have created the problem for themselves.

Stop talking nonsense will you, who is blaming the Dubs we are all on about Leinster Council here, please stop playing the poor victim will you. And if you want to talk about support then fine, lets talk about the support the Dublin hurlers get, oh yes v Wexford this year the only time I witnessed a Dublin team play in Croke Park and the Hill completely empty, great support. The footballers haven't filled the Hill once in Leinster this year bit of course will dominate that end of the ground next weekend and they didn't sellout Nowlan Park either. I'd revise your argument if I were you.

Being realistic, there are massive populations in these 4 counties & if they were brought up a level or two in hurling & football it would be huge for competition in the province.

I think 'fund allocation' should be 'formula driven' so everyone knows what to expect.
It would be neither fair nor practical to disperse funds equally in Euro terms (Leitrim would be disproportionately high) or based on population (Dubs getting too much).
A blend of the two is best - say, 1.5% to each county (48% subtotal) and then the other 52% based on per head population.
This would give an appropriate helping hand to those most in need.

There would be good competition between three or four counties - Kildare, Meath and Dublin. The rest would just fall even further behind. Its all about revenue for the GAA. With attendances falling, successful teams in Meath and Kildare, able to compete with Dublin, would turn that around. The top brass in the GAA don't care about the likes of Carlow, Laois, Longford, Westmeath, Offaly etc, because they don't have a big enough support.

Does anyone seriously think that this money will be equally spent between Hurling and football. If 5% is spent on Hurling it would be a shock.

Are they suggesting that each county will get 500,000 or 500,000 divided between 4? I would its divided surely?

I think it is a good decision by the Leinster Council to target counties with a growing population. This is a budget with a specific plan at present and will probably be extended. I think it is most desirable that there are other counties in Leinster besides Dublin that are competing to win the All-Ireland, presently there are six counties in Ireland that have a realistic chance of winning the All-Ireland and counties like Meath, Kildare and Louth with their big populations should also be up there competing with the best. It is silly for anybody complaining about Dublin, as Dublin have only got up to the standard of the top teams. Dublin have won three All-Irelands in the last twenty years and have won them by a margin of one to three points, so it is clear that the standard in other leading Leinster counties has dropped and I think the present plan by the Leinster Council is an attempt to address this. I think it would be a great boost to football should there be more teams competing at the top level.

A bit of an innocent view. Out of the last 9 competitions Dublin have entered across province, all ireland series and league they have won eight of them. Its dominance not just getting up to the standard of other teams.
