Benjy I'm very far from the only person to say that! Do you ever consider that Donegal may have been mentally over the line at 66-69 mins? leading when the 6 minutes of added time were announced Maybe in a game like that it's a bit of heart breaker, maybe it's a boost for the team behind. I wouldn't say 2 points from play in the second half constitutes much more than running down the clock considering the first of them came after 12 seconds of the second half or whatever. I find it very iconic a Donegal man complaining about 15 men behind the ball.

Also saying Tyrone could of come out of the trenches is ridiculous....why should Tyrone change their tactics and Donegal not?

6 minutes is the minimum that should be added on in my opinion. If you look at the stats for the amount of time the ball actually spends in play its ridiculous. Count up all the injuries, the substitutions, the fussy referees delaying the game, the cynical manner that teams slow the game down and all the rest, these stoppages exceed 6 minutes PoppinPoints (Meath) - Posts: 225 - 31/07/2016 20:49:22 1893153 Link 1 |

Sorry phrased that badly, I was thinking along the lines of a score already being between them. Like if you were 10 up in rugby, run down the clock all you like....it's more territorial even though that's 2 scores up 2 scores in football are much easier to come by especially 2 points. You're making my point for me any way for the most part i.e. they shouldn't have tried to run the clock down Seansy48 (Tyrone) - Posts: 237 - 01/08/2016 16:32:42 1893597 Link 0 |
As far as I'm aware, wasn't there going to be a clock system, after it was voted in at congress a few years ago, The GAA seem to have just ignored this, and went down the route of adding more time on at the end of games. PK57 (Louth) - Posts: 1653 - 01/08/2016 16:50:03 1893608 Link 0 |
I always think that is unfair on Cluxton as he tends to ping it quickly once he gets there. I always remember Ross Munnelly for Laois taking an age to kick a free. He also took most of them from the wrong place. The all Ireland final last year Cluxton was on his way in a timely manner when Mr. D gave him a whack! Slowing everything down. I think most free takers take the same amount of time including Cluxton.

Yea this time added is great. It's just important players are mentally aware of the time before the game Frederick (Louth) - Posts: 479 - 01/08/2016 17:36:34 1893644 Link 0 |
I had a wry smile that day, a Kerry lad jeered after Mr D did that, turned to him said just more time fro Maccer to get his goal, went very quiet. Worst I ever saw for time wasting and cynicism was the semi vs Mayo in 2012. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4445 - 01/08/2016 18:28:55 1893675 Link 0 |
