Replying To KingdomBoy1:  "Dont worry bout Liam and his gang the hermit, they think football only started in 2011.

Star has won poty and a few allstars and has nothing to prove to any1 . He is the STAR Donaghy and he is a football legend."
'He is the STAR Donaghy'.

Cringe. His name is Kieran.

I have to disagree Darragh was head and shoulders above all Kerry panalists that year.. his display in the quarters against Armagh was the single biggest display by a single player I have ever seen and yes I include Mossie Fitz display in 1997 against Mayo... Darragh should have been player of the year in 2006 end of in my opinion...

now the rest of ye can get back to the squibbling..."
No horse I didn't say I tought gooch should have been player of the year 2006 I was just telling the poster from Tyrone that gooch has never won poty.

Actually I think STAR was the worthy poty in 2006 my self, our team was gone stale and had gone flat and he was massive for us against Longford and he destroyed the best full back in the country in francie bellew and score 1-2 in the final.

His name is Kieran STAR Donaghy.
And he is a legend.

And when he decides to retire I look forward to watching him on the Sunday game as a pundit.

Donaghy was/is one of the best FF and the most difficult to mark- every defender that played on him at his best got taken to the cleaners. At present I cannot name a FF who is better-good fielder of the ball even with a couple of guys on his back, quick hands, good football brain and a good man to talk to Refs! and anyone around prepared to listen!

Don't be silly , how could that be on his birthcert? It's his knickname , it's a term of indearment from his fans.

I mean is croigorm on your birthcert ?
God help us all :-0

I know even typing this is ironic but the above kind of sh*te is an exact example of why I mainly avoid the main page

I know Horse. I had a look at the Donegal v Dublin thread there and sure it's just lads firing insults back and forth.

No one seem to actually have any gra for the games at all on here. More interested in schoolyard slagging

While the OP was a bit tongue in cheek I think Donaghy has been one of the really iconic figures of GAA over the past ten years. Opposition fans absolutely hate him, and that is usually a good sign of a player. He will retire having had a very influential role in several All Ireland wins and was the main factor in a couple, not many players get to say that. I know opposition fans like to portray him as some sort of giant donkey whose only asset is his size, but he is actually a fine footballer as well. Teams have learned to cope with him at FF by double and often triple marking him and fouling him constantly (I'll be the first to admit he gives as good as he gets), but when left man to man on any full back he will usually destroy them. He was virtually unplayable when he came on the scene and teams still use up a lot of resources trying to deal with him.

I don't think there is an inter county manager in the country that wouldn't have him, even now.

Put it to you this way - if he wore a blue jersey, I would probably think he was great.

Now excuse me while I go off to shower that dirty thought away......
