Yes a brilliant argument worthy of any schoolyard: 'It's not fair, look how many All-Ireland's we would win if it wasn't for other counties getting into semi-finals'...

I'd gladly take any of the other semi finalist routes over ours.
tis no wonder we've lost so many finals"
Yeah, yeah.

...so how do you explain 1980 ?
Kerry refused to take part in anything other than the Munster final..and won Sam by playing a grand total of three games.

Reasonable ?

Isn't it a great thing when in this day and age a fella you can write something like that and make it seem like fact. Without any sort of evidence or context.

Clare were arguably the third best team in Munster at that time. Now seeing as you seem to have so much knowledge of Munster football forty odd years ago, would you care to tell me what was the result of the Kerry v Clare Munster semi-final in 1979.

I'm sure a few posters might know, hint it was played in Milltown-Malbay.

Given that result, the Munster council took the decision that there was no point letting counties get humiliated. So they gave Kerry a bye into the final because the only team that might give Kerry a game in the province was Cork. Incidentally Kerry dished out the biggest defeat to our arch rivals in that entire period in the 1980 Munster final.

In 1981 the Munster Championship returned to normal and Kerry were back playing Munster semi-finals.

No one is disputing the merits of what was arguably the greatest ever team to play our sport...but can we just underline what went on here...three games to win Sam...now hold that thought.

Some on HS predict several years of Dublin dominance in the short & medium term. I'm not convinced, but let's assume for a minute they are right. Anyone using such a run of success to propose that the Dubs get an abbreviated one match route to the AI series would be howled down, and rightly so.

So please, don't defend the indefensible.

They get every game at home and half the funding but yet you have no problem with that.

I doubt you're from Monaghan, if I'm honest

Let's be clear: I oppose any form of seeding in any provincial championship, and I'm no fan of the Dubs.

Why am I talking about Kerry ?
Have a look at the title of this thread.

Pre match nerves ?

The nerves are tingling now, starting to feel like 09 again when Kerry beat us. There is a big game in Kerry as they so flat against Clare. Donegal played a similar against Armagh in 2014 QF before hammering in semi.
