Of course luck plays a part but usually over time the cream rises to the top. We (Meath) could be seen to have had a good comeback and a bit of luck to beat Mayo in 96, but by that Meath team staying at the top for a few years after, winning comprehensively in 1999 and getting to another final showed that team was one of the best teams around at that time. bdbuddah (Meath) - Posts: 1356 - 27/07/2016 15:05:17 1890996 Link 0 |
There's very little difference between at the top. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4236 - 27/07/2016 19:18:03 1891157 Link 0 |
Bray Emmetts current pitch is in Old Conna which to my best of knowledge is just inside the Dublin boundary. The old Emmetts pitch pre-2001 was just off Bray main street on Novara Road well inside County Wicklow. Bray Emmetts due to long travel distances inside County Wicklow played in the Dublin Championship from 1899-1933. They re-entered the Wicklow Championship in 1934.

Or what about Kerry winning the 1891 hurling, ref blew as a Wexford shot was sailing over the bar. Kerry won in extra-time."]I'm still bitter over that. In fact, it really turned me off football back then....."]Pinkie In the Munster Final that year LK easily beat KY the first game, but Kerry objected and won the replay. Do you remember 2001 when ye had a bit of luck against LK but against Tipp, in the next game, Paul Codd, the best forward in Ireland at the time, had the ball in his hand fifty yards out from goal when Pat O'Connor blew the whistle to make a draw of it. If he had let it flow Tipp were almost certainly gone. Oldtourman (Limerick) - Posts: 4331 - 29/07/2016 19:43:50 1892095 Link 0 |
