A Ms Sinnott managed Wexford Camogie Team to their first All Ireland Senior Title in decades some years ago.

Selection to any role has to be first be on merit it should also be open to all with the correct qualities, it need not be "fair". But in Dublin, Adult Camogie teams and Ladies football teams are predominately run by men. Similarly the relevant county boards are dominated by men and I suspect most clubs executives etc etc are a mans preserve. So even though girls play GAA sports in huge and growing numbers they are playing in sports that are essentially male dominated and driven. I can safely say I will probably never see the day when a mens adult team has a female managing it. I don't believe in quota's etc but surely the ladies county boards can get their own houses in order? arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4898 - 29/07/2016 13:44:57 1891983 Link 0 |
Yeah that was great to see, fair play to Tyrone.

It must be very condescending to the players having a male manager. Having female managers could encourage more girls to take up the football and camogie. Increasing player numbers has to be of high priority. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 29/07/2016 15:41:40 1892026 Link 0 |
I would suggest the reason why they are not playing has to be dealt with first.
