Lovely hurling my ar*e

Wexford were poor in the win against Cork . I thought with the win, maybe they would come in to this game fired up but they played with the intensity of a training ground workout. Depressing having to watch this standard of hurling not just from a Wexford stand point but even a neutral one. Looks like Dunne will move on to other things after this and it's probably for the best. Wish him well.

Wexford were extremely disappointing today. I thought they'd be buzzing after beating Cork but they didn't even land a glove on Waterford (who are mediocre enough, themselves). Poor game.

Galway-Clare wasn't too bad. A tighter finish would have made it more exciting but I never felt Galway were going to let Clare back into it (which is progress for Galway as they've been traditionally notorious for letting leads slip). It's amazing how much Clare have failed to kick on after 2013.

100% agree I actually don't think Kilkenny will lose much sleep over any of the 3 teams left in the championship now.
Cody had a nice easy drive back to the marble city from thurles no doubt.

It's a damn disgrace what those negative Nordies and their defensive tactics have done to hurling. Quick, ring Joe Duffy and Liveline, we have to blame someone and the Ulster hordes are good enough for it!

So you are telling me Galway Tipp semi-final last year wasn't a good game!?

Managers over complicating a simple game with their tactics. .The best game this year so far has to be Antrim/meath, but maybe the hurling championship may take off now..

Don't be blaming Down, we aren't even remotely near this standard either :-)

I was in Thurles yesterday and would agree and disagree.

Waterford and Wexford was utter gash to be honest. No other words for it.

However Galway and Clare was cracking game in my eyes and a completely different level to the game before. Physical, fast and plenty of skill on show where both teams went at it from the start. Of course there could have been more scores but its a bit simple to believe that the more scores in a game automatically means the better it was.

What are they doing to this great game ? I've never been so bored watching so many hurling matches this year, please managers stop messing with this great game their's more at stake here than your county winning an all Ireland , don't destroy hurling like football has been destroyed. Man on man may the best team win , it's what we all grew up on and why we love the game.

It was a close, tight game. The players on show are great sports people and are very skillful hurlers.

Well I am a very disappointed Wexford man today, but I think the stage is now set for Kilkenny and Tipp to show why you can have all the sweepers you want, if you go out and hurl 15 on 15 you will win if you have the best players.

We unfortunately never turned up yesterday which is not today or yesterday's problem with Wexford. Waterford were the better team but it was such a dreadful game of hurling.

Have never witnessed a worse championship. The provincial championships have been an absolute borefest. It is a sorry state of affairs for our ancient game when Wexford v Cork and the Ring/Meagher/Rackard cup finals were the most exciting hurling matches this year.

Benny, if the benchmark is the 2014 final then all games will be poor in comparison. That was the greatest game of all IMO and last years semi was one great game aswell.

Galway / Tipp was a great game last year or can you not accept that because Galway won?

I agree with you. My initial point was that we have not had a great game since then. It may be unfair to set that as the benchmark. However, KK and Tipp set the benchmark. Not me.

I have been more than complimentary to both teams. I am not sure where this question is coming from. I simply said that only KK and Tipp can reach the same level of intensity and I find it difficult to get enthused about another match up. I stated that this is a pity. I would like to see real intensity between many teams.

We played each other a few weeks ago. It was a close encounter between two evenly matched teams that are about the 7th/8th best teams in the country respectively (and who played each other in an AI semi a few years back). People expected it to be tight and close but only 10,000 showed up. We are simply off the required standard. Hopefully we will get there so we can have many championship games. Right now, games are just undercards for the big one that is coming.

Firstly, apologies Dubh_linn, I didn't deliberately go looking for this Topic you created 10 day's ago. I was trawling back through Topics for another reason. Anyway, as the great Dinah Washington nearly sang 'What Difference Ten Days Make'
