Plenty of junior clubs in Ireland, great chance to represent your county."
Darren Daly, Eoghan O'Gara and Jonny Cooper have All Ireland junior medals too . Dean Rock played junior before played senior. For some strange reason we stopped the junior team about 5 years ago

Strange one gael85 , it's a great way of keeping lads who are on the verge of a panel interested and give them a good chance of getting top quality training during the summer.

Mattie forde was playing for the Wexford juniors last year but I don't know if he's there this year or not.

Bastick, O'Gara and Fitzsimons all got their start for us in the Junior team that won the all ireland in 2009 so helps give players a chance to break into the senior team.

It is. The year Dublin won it in 08 was one of the few times they took it serious. Mick Deegan was manager that year. Most other years team only had one or two sessions before a game. I think junior champ is great competition as cousin of mine played with Clare juniors for about 10 years. They never won anything be had had great pride representing his county. Scandalous move by GAA trying to get rid of this competiton numerous times over the years

It's true, iv witnessed so great junior games throughout the years and now days a lot of counties our selfs included use the junior championship as an U23 compitition , we have 3 of last years minor team playing in Jason floe fullback Andrew Barry centreback and Brian o'seanacháin at wingforward and 2/3lads from the 2014 minor team warthon and Brosnan and O'Shea , last year we had Liam Kearney and killian Spillane from the 2014 minor team. Hopefully it might fast track some of those lads through to our senior team.

Liam Flaherty won playing half back for Kerry in 97 and was a Novice B footballer.

Thats because league and championship in Kerry are totally separate competitions and it only makes sense they are because County players might only play 2 or 3 out of 11 games whereas they will play all club championship games, divisional championship and with their divisional sides in the county championship if they aren't with a Senior club.

it is indeed proving a tough game in Manchester as Lancashire and Kerry are level at the break

Mayo up by 3 points after 25 mins in the other game

Kerry came through in the finish and we will face Mayo in Croke Park (I believe) in a repeat of last years final.

There is no doubt Mayo will be unbackable favourites for the final for a number of reasons.

Mayo have 6 of their AI winning U21 side
Kerry have had to field an entire new team this year which naturally is much weaker
Kerry have been conceding big scores, 3-10 vs Lancashire 1-16 vs Limerick in a game which Limerick were the better team.
Mayo had tougher semi final match
Mayo will have much larger support as the final will probably on the same day as Mayo Senior QF

A very enjoyable game and occasion yesterday. Well done to Kerry, they sent over a fine side that displayed all the great skills of gaelic football. The Lancashire side can be proud of their efforts also, they were competitive for long periods and an understandable lack of sharpness probably was the big difference. Good luck to Kerry next day out.

A quick bump to wish the Kerry Juniors all the best ahead of a massive task vs Mayo tomorrow.

No doubt the odds are stacked against us, I see Mayo will have 8 U21 players which is 8 more than what we will have and big big support backing them but it will be a great experience playing in Croke Park for the players regardless of the outcome.
