Replying To legendzxix:  "Despite the legal status of the Dublin Region, the term "County Dublin" is still in common usage. Many organisations and sporting teams continue to organise on a "County Dublin" or "Dublin Region" basis. The area formerly known as "County Dublin" is now defined in legislation solely as the "Dublin Region" under the Local Government Act, 1991 (Regional Authorities) (Establishment) Order, 1993, and this is the terminology officially used by the four Dublin administrative councils in press releases concerning the former county area."
Youd be great crack up the north , how long have you been in your bedroom praying someone bit at your line which you have been peddling for how long now ?

Would it be more competitive without the backdoor second chance? Teams fear the Dubs, fair enough, but I think some coaches might even setup teams to peak in the qualifiers following an expected defeat by the Dubs. There have to be players in Leinster counties who have self-beluef enough that they can beat Dublin. They'd be in a minority in their squads but sooner or later it will happen. But not while Gavin is manager. Not the Dubs fault that they're so good. Credit Gavin for keeping their momentum so high when they haven't been tested in Leinster.

He is just stating cold hard facts, does that bother ye for some reason?

Are ye uncomfortable at being able to pick from 4 large administrative regions why the rest of us have to make do with the 1, in most cases smaller populated areas? Is that it

Are you talking about Dublin again?

We weren't called the Dublin region when Kerry were winning

The Dublin region is the 4 administrative councils that make uo Dublin City and County. It has obviously noting to do with football which is administred by the Dublin County Board covering the County of Dublin. Legendmix persists with this Dublin Region nonsense just to take the p**S.

GreenandRed.....

Good post. I think that the provincial system has always been flawed. The logic for change is always challenged by "tradition". Ulster looks like the only competitive region.

I think the title of the thread is silly as Munster, Leinster and Connacht are all predictable. Mayo were asleep at the wheel this year. Reality is the same teams are winning these championships all the time.

The entire GAA championship needs radical reform.

I don't know lads, he could be onto something with this Dublin region stuff*

Cluxton
McMahon, Cooper, Small
McCarthy, Brennan, Brady
Fenton, Bastick
O'Gara, Connolly, McCaffrey
Costello, Rock, Brogan

Fair enough Dublin City Council GAA would probably be the strongest of the regions (and ye'll need to get Ger Brennan out of retirement) but the others wouldn't be too far off competing with the rest of Leinster at least.

Ye could do a full on tomsmith or Jack_Goff on it and rotate each team around a different province each year. Dun Laoghaire Rathdown GAA against the above in an All Ireland semi wouldn't be too far fetched.

*may or may not b onto something...

Well that's because County Dublin wasn't dissolved until 1994. Simple

No Kerry person had to remark about the "Dublin region" when you were winning

Getting back on topic, I thought the idea of a provincial group was a good option. The Leinster championship had a round robin system before. As the B Championship didn't gain traction, possibly the Leinster counties could resubmit their plan for a group stage qualifier.

I agree with the poster on this idea. A round robin system in Leinster, and other provinces would be a good idea, but despite Leinster proposing this arrangement to Congress last year, it failed because it did not get the 2/3rds majority. I believe the idea was to apply to the Leinster SFC in 2016.
It did get a majority, but not enough under GAA rules, surely a simple majority should be accepted.
If this proposal was tried it would remove the need for back door.
Some people might say that the provinces have different numbers of counties, but why not try it?
In Leinster the provincial semi finalists, plus Laois, would form one group, and the remaining 6 counties in the second group. The top 2 teams qualify for the semi finals. Extra time to apply in all games, up to and including provincial finals.
