Provincial championships have to go

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Play 2 championships parallel.

Regular provincial championship.

Open Draw championship.

Open draw championship gets played down to final 4.

All Ireland series involves Provincial champions plus final 4 from Open draw championship.

If a team qualifies through both they're directly into AI semi-finals.

The open draw All Ireland series can guarantee every team 2 matches.

Every team plays 1 home and 1 away championship match. Draws go to extra time, followed by golden score extra time.

If a team wins both their matches they go through to the last 16 directly.

Teams that have won 1 match have to participate in a playoff round.

Last 16 on is straight knockout football.

No more back door. Not too many extra matches but teams still guaranteed 3 games, none of which are dead rubbers.

A bit of Treble Chance there - min 3 matches, and 2 Qual wins leads to AI Last 14 in my case.

I think it's better than qualifiers.

The open draw championship is not a losers competition. It's probably more marketable as such.

The open draw could take just 3 rounds if needed.

Last 32, last 16, last 8.

It's flexible if the GAA wanted more games between top teams the last 16 could also be double chance.

The competition wouldn't be seeded, although it could be drawn to minimise match ups between teams from the same province.
