Replying To TheWestIsAwake:  "They did well to win an AI but I'm not expecting too many of that group to make the step up."
Im sure they will be heartbroken...

Fact is, half of them already have

Average in the U21 championship? Rubbish. Maybe he was against Leitrim but he was outstanding in the three big games - Connacht final, All-Ireland semi-final (where he got Man of the Match) and final. When the chips were down in those three games he showed up. A super talent.

He played well in the semi final but he was pretty quiet in the other games to be fair. Im not doubting his ability - he is by a distance the best young player in the country - but the claim was made that he carried the team, when in truth others outshone him often en route to the win, something he has acknowledged himself.

So apart from DOC who started against Kildare?

Do you not know? I thought you had extensive knowledge of the team.

I'll take a guess at none of them hence why you are trying to deflect?

I watched all his U-21 games so I put a little money on him to be player of the year already before summer. If mayo make it to a final that bet has a chance of coming off. In my opinion nearly the best player in the country based on what I've seen of him in U-21 and senior. He is defo up their with Connoly, Kilkenny, Peter Harte and O donogue. I think he has the ability to be no.1 just based on his Messi like runs that he does. Anyone who watched the U21 championship would have seen the stuff I'm on about , that goal against Kildare is not a once off bit of luck he seems to do it at will.

Great to unearth a talent that will likely be around for years to come and can only get better. Despite the quiet enough approach this year I think Mayo will be there or there abouts again.

If you have to guess then don't worry about it.

Which of their all Ireland wins were you watching by the way?

So we've gone from half of them have already made it to one?

Coen & Loftus have a chance of coming off the bench once everyone is back fit. So what has happened to the other lads who've 'made it'

Master you are not exactly talking a lot of sense here. DOC was terrific for the U-21's in Connacht final, AI Semi and final so not sure if you saw any of those games. You just make stuff up, others may have played well no doubt about that, but he was the driving force in those 3 games, that is a fact, and to say he was average is laughable. As for saying half of the team have already made the breakthrough, care to enlighten me as to who the 7 or 8 are? 4 or 5 max, with maybe only 2 or 3 seeing game time this summer.

There are quite a few of that u21 under age next so there's no rush with them. Coen has played well when given the chance. Loftus as well but he's been injured for the last month.

O Conor (who was already starter from last year) and Coen (whose a sub now) Loftus came on against London and hasn't been seen since, but yeah half the 21 team have made it sweet Jesus.

You are right but in fairness the poster was just saying he didn't see many of them making the breakthrough rightly or wrongly, he was then told half the team have already been called up.

7 of them have either featured or been involved for the mayo senior team this year flaker. You have only shown that you don't know them.
As for O'Connor being our 'driving force' in the final. Loftus and Irwin rattled off 2-2 each, and still didn't get motm. That went to ruane.

I wouldn't say half of the team, DOC, Coen and Loftus have been the most prominent so far. Coen has started all of the championship games so far so it's fair to say that he's broken through, even if a couple of injuries paved the way for him. Loftus got a run in the league and London but has been injured also. People need to be patient in any case, these players are trying to force their way into a team that's been in the top 3 or so in the country for the past four or five years, which is a significant step up even from winning an U-21 title.

I said they made the step up to the senior intercounty setup. I don't know what the phrase 'made it' is in quotes for. Who are you quoting?

I don't know, I never said made it, that was your countyman westawake. I said they made the step up to senior intercounty, which they have. 7 have featured already and more have been involved in trials etc.
