CW didn't bottle it re McMahon - McStay had already gutted him so need. Plus a lot of the abuse McMahon got on social media was from some of the beloved Blue army. McMahon epitomises this generation of Dubs, fast, mobile, no fixed position, this is how the game is evolving. Maybe CW and McStay etc have a long way to go to catch up.

The panels are biased and usually give very poor analysis of the game- The behave like parrots in most incidents without picking up more serious incidents when the county involved includes a panel member. You watch RTE (which most of us pay a licence to) and the coverage of some matches is exceptionally poor. Last weekend they give maybe 10mins covering a league of Ireland match where there was about 200 spectators and on the previous day gave 1 to 2 minutes covering matches that had over 10k spectators. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 13/07/2016 11:38:24 1882421 Link 0 |
It wasnt just harte saying it. Brolly highlighted it in the studio that the ref had been harsh not to give the penalty. Even he thought it should have been given.

How this isn't a penalty I will never know https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Iv2PiESDLAo Both arms round the player and swings him to ground kevin03 (Tyrone) - Posts: 276 - 13/07/2016 13:02:46 1882477 Link 0 |
kevin03- It was an obvious penalty and a very poor Ref decision- and would have been a foul with the oval ball also browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 13/07/2016 13:24:44 1882490 Link 0 |

I see Mickey Harte going on about Ciarán Whelans comments on Sunday Game, surely as this is RTE programme is it not hypocritical of Mickey even watching this , when he can't even bother talking to them topdownfan (Down) - Posts: 555 - 13/07/2016 17:23:06 1882673 Link 0 |
I don't mind Whelan too much, he isn't a great pundit though, I think Mc Stay had a better football brain or he was better at getting his point across anyway, TirChonaillabu2 (Donegal) - Posts: 344 - 13/07/2016 17:36:12 1882685 Link 0 |
I doubt very much that you're from Roscommon yerself.

Yawnnnnnn… you are like a broken record. We get it you don't like Tyrone but the reason why Mickey Harte does not speak to RTE has been explained to you several times in previous discussions. You are obviously either a slow learner or a WUM, albeit a terrible one.

Agree totally. When it comes to the North and Ulster, the GAA and Southern media have a very partitionist, anti Northern agenda whether it be sport or politics. RTE and The Independent group in particular are rabidly anti Northern Nationalist, pro-Unionist and that comes across in their political and sporting reporting. They don't even pretend to hide their bias anymore, in fact they wallow in it and wear it as a badge of pride,

That's exactly what it was, a petty vendetta by O'Hara. What annoys me is that the Sunday game doesn't go out live so they could have easily removed it from the show. It probably is a case of The Sunday Gams trying to change from being too critical last year to being more diplomatic this year with the obvious exception of Brolly. I can see where the Tyrone paranoia comes from because they are basically the Millwall of GAA. What that Tyrone player did last year to get the Monaghan player sent off was a disgrace. O'Shea conned the referee to win a penalty not to get the Fermanagh full back sent off. It's very hard on Fermanagh and I wouldn't blame Pete McGrath and Fermanagh for being pissed off because it is a very hard pill to swallow as the away team. I know Tom Smith came on here saying referees are only human and he is right. I think the blame rests with the GAA because the umpires don't appear to be properly trained to spot these incidents. I could easily see how McQuillan might buy the dive but he has two umpires with him who had a better view of it than him and didn't spot it. Anyway as I said in my first post everyone seems to give the Sunday Game analysts too much respect. I get more sense and learn more about the game by reading posts here. He doesn't talk to RTE for his own very personal reasons. What's more he is right not to. They are a disgraceful institution in more ways than one. You seem unusually interested in Mickey Harte for a Roscommon man. please explain?? i made 2 comments on MH. He top manager but should be concentrating on sunday instead of the mind games CurranCake1 (Roscommon) - Posts: 130 - 14/07/2016 08:54:00 1882904 Link 0 |
