Hurling qualifiers pairings

Replying To Oldtourman:  "Galway could not beat the worst Cork I have ever seen to retain Division 1 status. Are they really that superior to Limerick. Three of their best forwards V Cork and Tipp last year were on the field in that years U21 Semi Final, they 3 points between them. Hardly a massive performance."
Thought Wexford played not only well but intelligently, very few wides, misplaced passes or aimless hurling. It would have been a travesty if Cork had won as Wexford were far the better side and that was a team missing at least 8 regulars. Inconsistency is the thing Wexford need to sort then who knows? And a great result for the press not one of them have Wexford a chance. Well done Wexford!

Are certain people still raving about clare winning the AI after that first half performance?

Is that meant to be a dig? 11 points with 9 wides - accuracy can and will be improved. That to me is a fairly dominant first half performance

God we were poor today! We have a problem with putting teams away! Limerick were at nothing today and we kept them in it! 100% improvement the next day!

In regards the next day I'm taking it as Clare, Wexford, Galway and Tipp for 1/4 now so will the Munster teams be kept apart or is it open draw ?

As I said earlier in the week, no contenders on show tonight. Very poor standard from all 4 teams.

Watching a different Wexford team than I was, Limerick never showed up, at least Wexford showed a bit of heart and composure.

Showing heart doesn't mean they are any good though.

Good enough to get to a quarter final. Limerick weren't.

Yep. And as I said earlier in the week, the matches today were to see who loses a quarter final. 4 bad teams. This evening proved just how bad.

Clare and Wexford will be drawn against Galway and Waterford/Tipp. I presume Clare cannot get Waterford as they have already met. So if Tipp win tomorrow its Galway v Clare and Waterford v Wexford. If Waterford win there will be a draw....I think...

Replying To LohansRedHelmet: "Not true.

What form have Wexford that makes you think they would beat this Cork team?

I am not saying it is not possible but I have seen nothing from Wexford that suggests that even with a full compliment they would beat Cork regardless of the lack of confidence in this Cork team. Cork forwards are too strong for Wexford's backs IMO"
agree completely, sure cork hammered wexford in wexford last year. wexford havent been competitive with the top teams in a looooong time. (bar an out of sorts clare team and poor waterford team in 2014) and i dont mean just losing but being hammered most of the time..

Mike, what's your problem with every other county bar your own.At least your a balanced poster ; you have a chip on both shoulders.

I enjoyed my visit to Thurles yesterday.I thought Wexford hurled out of their skins to beat a Cork team for the first time in half a century.Wexford made good use of their possesion and scored some great points.Chin and McDonald were real leaders up front. The Wexford backs never gave Lehane,Horgan & co a second on the ball.
Cork were poor and lacked a killer instinct.Wexford seemed to want it more.I was delighted for the long suffering Wexford folk around me who were doing a victory jig.

Clare were excellent for the last 20 minutes of the first half and T Kelly,C Galvin,S O Donnell,J Conlon and Podge started to dominate the game.Limerick had no answer as the banner scored points from all angles.Clare looked comfortable 15 mins into second half but to be fair to Limerick they never gave up and made a good fight of it until the final whistle.Clare seemed to get sloppy and never pulled away.I always felt Clare were going to win but they left Limerick with a glimmer of hope going down the stretch. It wasn't a great game but Clare wont mind.D cMcInerney was solid at 6 and this game will bring him on.In patches Clare were brilliant. If they can get C Ryan and C McGrath back they will take some beating. The panel is bursting with quality.

I completely stand by my comments. I did not see Cork loosing but I did say it was possible that they would.

Congrats to Wexford, I am truley happy for ye but word to the wise, I would argue that this 2016 Cork team is the worst Cork team I have seen in my 30 years on this planet.

Your'e wrong there mate..... he has a problem with every county including his own.

Clare struggled at this stage in 2013 also when taken to a replay with Wexford. In fact, the Limerick game yesterday was very like 2013 in that I always felt Clare would win but they couldnt put Wexford away and were hit with 1-1 in the closing stages for Wexford to level it. In extra time we won comfortably.

In the next round in 2013 we dominated Galway and bar gifting two goals were comfortably 10 plus points better. We then dominated Limerick in the semi final and played a blinder in both All Ireland finals.

We have lost 1 game out of 15/16 games this year including winning the league. I would fancy us to beat Galway if we draw them, although if it is Tipp we would certainly be underdogs.

For some reason though, i think we would relish the underdog tag.

Please mike keep your emotions for your own team, you are only making a fool out of yourself dismissing all other teams.
