It is so true, fans just get fixated on a few calls by the ref and ignore their own team's shortcomings. The analysis is really interesting in that poor shooting or poor shot selection really let both sides down. For instance, Donegal tried two shots from acute angles from the sideline which had a very low percentage chance of going over. You would think both sides would have been more capable of breaking through the blanket, most scores were absolute hail mary points. Maybe it wasn't a great game but some of the points scored were incredible.

He gave the benefit of the doubt to Rory Kavanagh a few minutes after sending Mc Shane to the line.

Who said he should be let away with it cos he's a good player? I certainly didn't say that.I'm saying the officials are inconsistent. They give benefit of the doubt when it suits them. Many of them are simply not good enough at the job thats being asked of them.Need 2 of them in there at least with pace of todays game.Pay them a little better and get serious about the importance of officiating the game.

First of all congratulations to Tyrone and no excuses here. But if we did blink it took us a long time as we were a point up at 70 mins play. Now people can say what they like about Donegal playing crap football but it takes two to tango. Now when I saw the Tyrone team I knew M H would send out a very defensive minded team. He had Sludden at no 11 , a guy who was playing centre half back against Cavan. And I thought McNabb played as a defender at some stage for Tyrone. So it was easy to see how Tyrone would set up. That's one reason last week when I was on about E mcHugh making way for Leo. Speed never really came into the game on Sunday as it was so defensive. All the papers I read leading up to the game and all the GAA pundits were all on about Tyrone's pace and lighting attacks. Didn't see any of it. But what I admired about both teams were the disciplined game plan both had. They both stuck to it all day long so fair enough in the last ten minutes both teams were getting tired and to me a draw would have been a fair result. Whether F McGlynn was fouled is another thing but Tyrone got a score from the turnover. M Hart said in the Irish news yesterday that even if Tyrone had got beat he could not have questioned their character and indeed he praised Donegal's character also. He also said just because we got a little bit of the rub of the green in the game in the later stages does not mean Tyrone are that far in front of other teams. Another thing some of the points scored on Sunday won't be equal led this year. And that's scores from both Tyrone and Donegal. Let's hope we both reach the All Ireland final , that's what I want to see -- Donegal v Tyrone. SamOnErrigal (Donegal) - Posts: 1427 - 19/07/2016 21:37:36 1886678 Link 0 |
Replying To johnjoseph: "As I predicted to your fellow county man muckross donegal would blink first and they did what's wrong with that ? Why should I exit left ? Sounds like sour grapes sir . Good luck against Cork ." MuckrossHead (Donegal) - Posts: 5028 - 19/07/2016 22:24:35 1886715 Link 1 |
"blink first " means that when the chips are down and all is to play for Tyrone wouldn't and they proved this . Mickey had their number. All said and done I thought it was an intriguing and immense spectacle , a very physical game of chess and Donegal were unlucky . They kept their discipline (I thought maybe Thompson would hit the line )and are well tuned to have another tilt . I wouldn't fancy being Cork facing that kind of backlash . Donegal can break as fast and hard as Tyrone and depending on the draw they may meet again depending on whether or not Dublin could cope with Donegal in a semi final .
