One law for Dublin and another for Laois Armagh

i hope the genuine supporters of all four counties who boutght tickets in advance
are not forced to miss the matches now due to accomadating another sport.

A number of year ago, not sure if it was Italia 90 or USA 94, Ireland were playing at the same time as an Ulster semi final. The Ulster council said they would not change the time to accommodate another sport. There was a few thousand at the game.
The GAA this year in their wisdom have moved the times back for this Sunday as they know people have dual interest.

Replying To lillyboy:  "certainly not thinking of Kildare or Westmeath, it's extremely limited where you could watch the match and still make it in for 4-15. There won't be 5000 there for our match so maybe we don't deserve much consideration."
Ah there are several pubs in the Drumcondra/Ballybough area that are only a short walk away from Croker. They might be a bit wedged Sunday morning/afternoon but they're there.

It's the correct decision to move the games, Kildare and Westmeath supporters should go in early and watch the Ireland match in Dublin, make a great day of it, this is what I was planning to do if the Gaa didn't move the games.

The Gaa has seen sense with this one and shouldn't be criticized for it, I'm a Gaa fan first and I still go see Meath v Dublin if it was on at 2pm Sunday but I wouldn't be happy about it and it would be an eerie Croke Park.

The bottom line is nobody cares about Laois v Armagh , it's just another fixture the GAA wants run off

How about Croke Park putting the match on the big screen so those that have to travel can go early with there kids and not try and jam into a pub and see nothing.

Dublin v Meath and Westmeath v Kildare will be moved - its the correct decision. But makes you wonder why Laois v Armagh was not put on a bit later. Make you wonder would it have been moved if it wasnt Dublin involved

The point i am making is that laois v armagh should have been played at 5pm to avoid a clash with ireland game
hill16 man - rte had ire v belg and laois v armagh - so if it was purely for television those games wouldnt have clashed"
theres a big difference in laois v armagh and dublin v meath for rte.

yes but if you already booked train tickets will iarnrod eireann refund them?
if you got a couple of hours off work to go to the matches in croker at their stated times
will your boss allow you the whole day off?

if anything this could impact negativly on the attendance on sunday
6.35 is an awkward time on a sunday
plus it will only reward people to sit at home or the pub and watch three games in a row

--- no but if your boss is nice enought to let you off for original times you could always ask to change to the new times
--mad idea i know!!

why is the dublin v meath game 6.35 anyway and not 6.15
the original times were 2pm and 4pm
the kildare v westmeath is 4.15 why the extra 20 minutes to wait around for supporters
will only encourage the kildare and westmeath supporters to go home

well if the boss cannot fill your vacancy for the later time it is most likely he wont be able to fill the earlier one and would not let you off-- maybe it may be easier to fill the later vacancy -any travelling fans would have had to take more than a few hours off anyway -- look the decision is made , would you prefer the matches were played in front of an empty stadium

You should campaign to all the employers of the counties involved on Sunday to let their staff have the relevant time off...ohh and get onto Irish rail while you're at it too to make sure their tickets can be refunded for the people or who may or may not be affected by the changing of the times by a couple of hours seen as though this seems to be a big dividing crusade for you.

I thought Ireland v Spain in 2002 was on early in the morning like 8pm or something like that?
