Dublin v Meath

Cannot concede kick outs to Dublin and hope to get anywhere near them, they had a free run into our half and then sprayed the ball around at will, O Sullivan made a few decent breaks in second half but nobody there to give him any backup

id be very annoyed if I was a Meath supporter the way they lacked any ambition to win. In the second half Dublin strung 30 odd passes together inviting Meath to come out of the defensive set up and the lack of interest in the Meath player's to try take the ball off Dublin was so bad. Surely if someone is doing that around you it would make you feel angry and determined to take it off them."
That all came from the tactic to let Dublin have the ball from the kick out, which was suicide as I stated it would be before the game..

About yesterday, I cannot predict future. But my general thesis still stands. My thesis is that Dublin will soon peak and then decline like all great teams. I was also shocked today that O Dowd did not his players up on Cluxton. It seems O Dowds plan was containment and damage limitation. Which are very unMeath like traits. If ur going to beat Dublin u have to deal with Cluxton. He is the Pele of goalkeepers. I have never seen a player influence a game so much. Also Meath players r not fully developed physically and skill wise to match Dublins experience and skills. Dublin r better team, more experienced better built team. Full stop.So let me say somethin nice about Dublin. This is probably the best Dublin team to ever come out of the capital with some of the best players ever to play for Dublin. Dublin r not only the best team in the country with the best manager but also the team of the decade, No argument full stop.

They win the toss and choose to play with a strong wind and driving rain at their backs in the first half, yet proceeded to play 13 and 14 men in their own half. That's not having a go."
They maybe played with a number of men behind the ball, but they were supporting one another well off the ball in the first half. They were working the ball up the middle of the pitch and got themselves into good positions.

They were nip and tuck with Dublin for most of the first half, although I appreciate that Dublin took a while to find their shooting boots. When Dublin did Connolly and Flynn got some nice scores to pull away at half time. Realistically that was game over.

The big problem with Meath game plan is that it's really physically demanding. They'd nothing to give in the second half.

It's not the way I'd set that team up.

They need an outlet for direct ball in the half forward line. I'd put Tormey in their to try and win good possession inside Dublins 45. Have Reilly and Wallace playing off him. Maybe even have Newman playing off him instead of Wallace. Try to get you best scorers on the ball.

To be honest there is still a huge gulf in class. Wallace wouldn't get a look in with Dublin, he worked hard yesterday and is a great athlete but he just isn't a good enough footballer for that level.

Anyone know if Graeme Reilly will face retrospective action?

Probably right Wayne. Not a lot in it I taught to be fair. Connolly gave the right answer anyway.

I know Ziggy but they would have a case and that's what worries me.
