Replying To cuederocket:  "It's not disrespectful lads. It's only betting market forces in play. The bookies aint takung chances with Dublin anymore.Especially in Leinster where our average winning margin is increasing year on year. The bookies were probably cleaned out with the handicap spreads over the last few years.I made a nice few bob myself. That is why Dublin are -13 points and 1/50.I think Dublin should be approx 1/6 to win but the markets are all askew with our dominance."
Id agree with that.

Nah Wayne that was meant at me I think, but at least if we get beat by 8 points I know Meath players and fans wont celebrate :).

Couldn't care less about the odds, Dublin were always going to be heavy favourites for this one and rightfully so, doesn't matter to me if it's 1/10, 1/50 or 1/100 etc

Exactly.Unless you've an interest in gambling it shouldn't matter a jot.At the end of the day it's 15 Meath men taking on 15 Dublin men.Anything can happen.Dubs by 10 + (:

Well I suppose anything can happen and that's the hope that Meath fans have to cling on to but we all know what probably will happen. I was talking to a lot of Meath fans over the last few days just to gauge their thoughts and to be honest the majority don't think we'll even beat the spread of 13pts, 20pts+ was talked about a bit though.

To the lad who think its the bookies disrespecting Meath
first off, you obviously dont understand how odds work Ziggy
Secondly, you have to EARN respect
Once Meath earn our respect back, they will get it. In spades. Dublin have always respected Meath. But the way ye have been perorming in recent years means ye dont DESERVE the respect you crave.

I have no doubt Meath will re emerge eventually. Once the current trend of first generation meath lads with Dublin parents grows up and the younger generation come thru with more love for the green shirt, then we will see Meath back, and I cant wait. Nothing would please me more than to see Dublin Meath back, but until ye get ye're act together then dont be on here bitching about a lack of respect
EARN IT!

For every Dublin Leinster match for last two years I put on whatever money I have on my account for them to win and usually put it on with them at -2 or a bit more so which improves the odds a small bit with little or no risk. It's an easy way to add a few euro to your online account. (Got caught with the Donegal semifinal before though so I stick with Leinster these days!
Meath are a million miles off Dublin so I don't see how they could be disrespected.

Why are people surprised? Dublin are an unstoppable juggernaut who are unbeaten in 25 games and have won their Leinster games by an average of 16 points!!! (It's either the last 3 or 4 years I can't remember which)

Unless the whole first team squad come down with a mysterious illness or virus before the game and Dublin have to pick another 15 then it'd be nearer to a 50/50 albeit the Super Blues would still be favourites,

The value was to be had on the handicap spreads prior to the last few years.I remember winning a few even money bets on -6,-7 & -8 point Dublin victories. The problem for this spread betting is Dublin have continued to increase their average winning margin in Leinster. It is not wise to be betting on the spread at present. At half time v Laois it looked very good that Dublin would cover the 13 point spread.2-7 to 0-5 ahead and Laois minus their talisman,J O Loughlin. However, for once,Dublin failed to push on and all punters on that spread bet would have been very dissapointed. While Dublin may very well beat Meath by more than 13 points, there is far too much scoring in that for it to be a wise punt. The value is not in Dublin covering the spread anymore. It has gone full circle in that the value is in Dublins opponents getting within the spread.I will stay away from this game but if i had to put my head on the chopping block i would go with Meath getting within 13 points of Dublin.

Fair point but that in itself is a risk. Lump on Dublin at -3 or 4 and it's printing money! No risk!

Possibly. Still easy money though if you have a few quid in your account. Just bumps it up a bit! Lets face it...in order to make a fortune on Dublin you need to be putting a few quid on a risky bet. Better off staying away. As you said the Laois match proved that
